That's what the data shows. Ump missed 17%. That's pretty bad. And the early strikes Kluber got absolutely changed some things.chiwhitesox said:That ump sucked calls for both teams. Early on his calls were for the tribe, later in the game they were for the cubs. He choked in his first world series game behind the plate. He sucks. Either way, cleveland looked good.

Umps are gonna miss calls on Kluber because he has so much movement. Those calls didn't change the game. Cubs weren't getting to him regardless
Edit: Wait, so the cubs got more favorable calls?Post edited by Cliffy6745 on0 -

that's all I'll say.
a bat flip on a ball off the wall isn't a good look.
for the record, I think Baez is incredible....he may have missed the tag or may have gotten him with the laces....either way, it wouldn't have been overturned.

Thanks for letting me off the hook. I couldn't stand living with myself if such a great baseball mind thought I was overstepping my bounds.Gtilley8 said:
I thought that's what you were getting at...."showboaty"..... But I wasn't going to come right out and accuse you of that. I guess when you see a guy that is a better fielder than Ozzie Smith, you're going to go all out and try to find something wrong with him. That's the way of that cheater organization. Good form.DewieCox said:What Baez does just looks showboaty to me. He could turn his head at some point even if his tag hand his faster than he can follow.
Obviously it was on Cle to challenge, but I'm saying the ump missed the initial call and it should've gone against Chi, putting it on them to challenge whether he made the tag. The call either way would've been impossible to overturn.
In real time, the play didn't look close. Hence the out call. So we're either not watching the same game, or your bird shit coated glasses are showing you things that aren't there.
Come talk to me when Baez ratttles off a dozen Gold Gloves in a row, and when you do, try not to be an over sensitive wiener.
I don't think saying that he might miss a tag, being showboaty is going all out to find something negative to say. It was right there on the screen and there was talk of it being reviewed during the game. Not even 15 hours ago, he nearly or actually missed a no look tag. You'd think someone with your baseball acumen could understand such a simple concept.Post edited by DewieCox on0 -
Cubs haven't scored a world series run since 1945.The worst of times..they don't phase me,
even if I look and act really crazy.0 -
Maybe a little too good a party. Haven't "won" anything yet.Cliffy6745 said:So, What you Giving ?........ (Thanks Speedy, Alesek, & Arq+friends)
What You Giving
I suggest you step out on your Porch.
Run away my son. See it all. Oh, See the World!0 -
if missed calls are 10-7 what is there to complain about??? Cubs got worked by a pitcher on his game...own the loss...move on to game 2 and dont turn into that team that everyone will hate by the end of the series by complaining balls and strikes
Cubs are too good of a team to go that route

As a Cubs fan I've been saying that for some time now. I guess I don't consider making the WS a curse breaker. Although he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, to me Bartman and the goat are still alive and kicking.guacamolejoe said:

Bingo! Didn't want to address that elephant in the room as being a Sox fan would've gotten me the Spanish Inquisition...but...that's exactly what I was thinking. Chill with the fuckin celebration! There's still another series to play!elvistheking44 said:

I read the article the other day... while it was a cool story... the whole thing reeked of a final celebration/mission accomplished. Lester even said when he was justifying his apparent DWI and reckless driving: "I was going down the opposite way on streets. I was telling the guys in the car, ‘If we can get away with it any night, it’s tonight."chiwhitesox said:

Now we have no idea how the Indians celebrated. Maybe they had a similar thing? They weren't home though, so who knows what happened? I do know that there was a lot of coverage/attention to the Cubs' celebration itself, which is rare outside a Championship celebration.
It all probably means nothing and is just background noise... but if the Indians Win game 2, if I were a fan, I would definitely be questioning the events after the NLCS Clinching game.0 -
I have thought about this too. I have finally decided that...they deserved to celebrate. that is a huge monkey off their backs regardless of what they might say. it was to blow off all the pent up emotion. as long as they weren't still hung over by game 1......no harm done. this is huge for Cubs fans!! their minds are back on the WS now. I am sure.MayDay10 said:

I read that story and the first thing I thought was.....this asshat drove the wrong way down one way street OR was driving in the left lane(s) because he wanted to get home to his party and is dumb enough to admit it? Because his celebrity would make it OK if I was driving in the correct lane and saw some crazy in my lane pointed at me with his car. (No doubt driving very quickly.)MayDay10 said:

I think the party at his house is awesome.
I think that most of the players and some of the team employees went there to be together and celebrate is awesome.
I certainly think that having superfan EV there to play some music and party with them is awesome.
I think John Lester is a moron of the first degree. Admitting to do this is even dumber than doing it. (And this isn't his first rodeo, can't give him the 'Excited Kid' excuse if one were so inclined.)
Glad nobody got hurt and they had a blast. Sure it had zero impact on the game...just wish I hadn't read this because now I am just going to thing "A-Hole" when I see Lester on the dot.The love he receives is the love that is saved0 -
It is the kind of thing that can bite them in the ass publicly if they cant win the series. A lot of young guys, they will learn from it (Lester should know better).
I would bet if they lose the series and make it back next year, the celebration will be much more low key.
I'm kind of mixed when it comes to these celebrations in baseball. Celebrating a Wild Card? lame. Division title? Maybe? The Indians did this season, still were in a race for home field with Texas and Boston/Toronto/Balt.... and sleep(drunk) walked through a 12-0 (i think) drubbing the next game.
Its a long season, they deserve to celebrate a tough Division Title, and better yet, a Pennant. For me, I would feel very conflicted. In Hockey, it is kind of lame, but the Conference Winning team often doesnt even touch the trophy to say "work to be done". While the Indians were celebrating, interviews with players and manager/coaches, it was almost somber-sounding and everyone repeated there was work to do and there is nothing they want more than to accomplish the WS victory with this group of players.
its still a lot of assumptions/perception based on limited knowledge and facts though0 -
Lester could have embellished a little but agree that he shouldn't have said what he said.0
