    Definitely a classic.

    Can't beat '90s hip-hop.

This one from my friend Michael Franti that was played as the opening to U2's 1993 Zooropa World Tour.....

Ain't that the truth. Here here to conscious rappers such as Michael Franti. This is the song that led to the discovery of my now friend back in 1992.

It connected with me due to some experience in my youth.

Thanks for posting that. Totally forgot how great those guys were. That video should be played in all high schools followed by a discussion about bullying and ignorance.

i downloaded it. it was ok. My fav song from the real album was blockbuster night but the "meow mix" was pretty bad. Meowpurrdy was good and a few others.

    Most african americans are.

I'd love to see your data on that... I'm still remembering that NWA's 2nd album sold more records in white suburban neighborhoods nationwide than in black markets. Also, given the wide diversity in musical tastes among any particular race/ethnicity, I'd love to know your source on "most African Americans are into hip hop".

    Where's your evidence of this?

How new do you mean? I mostly hate the new new stuff unless it sounds like old stuff. Every now and then something can surprise me, but that is rare. I can't think of any new artists within the past couple years that have been interesting.

Our Aussie friends have been making some killer hip-hop for about a decade now. Lots of old school influence. Just got into it about a year ago but damn the shit's good!

was watching MTV Classic earlier and they had Yo, MTV hip hop! Only caught the last two songs but the first one i saw hasn't been mentioned, Young black Teenagers "Tap The Bottle" kinda remembered the song a little, reminded me of Fu-Schnickens or Onyx or something like that.

Love me some hip-hop.  DOOM is my absolute favorite, I can never get enough, listen to his music near daily.  Other faves are Atmosphere, Brother Ali (I get to meet him in DC in a few weeks!), Eyedea and Abilities, Beastie Boys, Mr. Lif, Living Legends, Wu-Tang.  I'll need to go through this thread to find some new stuff to listen to.
