police kill unarmed black man

Summarily executed for not following an officer's commands. Shoot first and ask questions later. This is not right.KC138045 said:
I heard her say TBI but did not know what she meant by that. And if he did why was he the one to pick up the kids. Regardless he had a gun and did not follow commands. That's what got him shot.CM189191 said:
Did you take away the fact that he had a Traumatic Brain Injury? Or not hear that part?KC138045 said:
Two takeaways. One she does not sound that upset or emotional to just seeing her husband shot. She seems more worried about getting the video. And at the beginning of the video he is in his truck then after he is shot is is on the ground where on of the cops were standing. That would lead me to believe he came at the cops.CM189191 said:

This. I think there's going to be a huge shortage of police in the next few years....who the hell would want to be a cop at this point? I came very close to going through the process to join Chicago PD a few years back. So happy I didn't....the job just keeps getting tougher and scrutiny is at an all time high. I have close friends and family members that are Chicago PD and the stories that you hear are just unbelievable.Thirty Bills Unpaid said:The entire problem is very complex.
I understand why black people might fear police and I understand why police might fear black people. It's a crappy situation and it doesn't appear to be getting better: there is no hope for some inner city youth and without hope... hostility and defiance grows within many.
Meaningful social programs might be the answer- I don't know for sure, but the status quo must change.
On the front (in the streets)... I anticipate a significant demand for law enforcement across the US in the coming years. I would hope that at least a few of the finger pointers around here might consider a career in the profession. Hell, they seem to talk as if they have ice running through their veins. I'd be curious to know if 2-3 years on the job might change their perspectives at all?

Or the fact that it appears he did not follow orders them came at the police. How else would you explain how he got from his truck to where he was laying after he was shot.CM189191 said:

At this point who knows. Saying he came at police holds as much validity right now as saying he staggered 10 feet clutching his heart as the blood pumped out of his body.KC138045 said:

cops are taught to shoot center mass, not at shoulders or legs.PP193448 said:Very disturbing video. Unbelievable. Why shoot to kill?? Maybe cops should use tranquilizer guns or something. I would agree that this event seemed like the cops were trigger happy... Crazy.

and here's the most intelligent post of the year. because of these events who the hell is going to want to be a cop? the smartest candidates will now think twice and instead choose another career. this is kind of like what is happening to the teaching profession..Indifference71 said:

I think it's been happening for a while. I had a friend who was going to join the NYPD but he made 3x more money working as a bartender.mcgruff10 said:

sorry if it's been said ... anyone know why the cops were there in the first place?0

I think they were there to serve a warrant to someone else. Not sure what this guy did to get their attention.polaris_x said:sorry if it's been said ... anyone know why the cops were there in the first place?

But doesn't that play into the narrative that black men are targeted by police. This is an open carry state. If a gun was seen in the car of a white guy in an open carry state would they have pulled their guns out?mcgruff10 said:0 -

Sure. I know. But maybe they should be taught to try first at peripheral trunk, then center mass if and only if needed. This guy wasn't trying to kill anyone, rob anyone, disturb the peace. They just rolled up on him guns drawn. No matter what transpired he should have listened to the cops. But damn, 4 shots (that's what I counted listening to the video) and he's dead. Way extreme to me, but I wasn't there.mcgruff10 said:

I totally get what you are saying but within that split second decision it's tough. I pray that I am never in that situation.PP193448 said:

Why was the wife so far away from the truck?? Why was she video taping while the police pulled up?? Why did she not try to intervene?? Not saying this whole thing was staged. Just seems strange... Of course I wasn't there and don't know the facts. And it's only snippet of video. And it's still fucked up regardless...2006 Clev,Pitt; 2008 NY MSGx2; 2010 Columbus; 2012 Missoula; 2013 Phoenix,Vancouver,Seattle; 2014 Cincy; 2016 Lex, Wrigley 1&2; 2018 Wrigley 1&2; 2022 Louisville0

I thought the same thing. She could be lying through her teeth just so it appears the police shot an innocent man.PP193448 said:Why was the wife so far away from the truck??
