I was surprised to see ISM on reissue already, since i got an original one, new, at the record store maybe 2 years ago for $30. Just didn't realize there was a demand for a reissue yet. But extra material is always good.

Jim wasn't happy with the way it was mixed:

    04/04/2016
My Morning Jacket is reissuing 2003’s It Still Moves (out May 27th, 2016) remixed and remastered as a special deluxe package with new artwork and exclusive photos.
It will include frontman Jim James’ ten original demos plus three unheard tracks from the original sessions on 4 x LP 180 gram vinyl and 2 CD in expanded soft-pak.
For James, It Still Moves was the only My Morning Jacket album he could look back on and wish that some things were different about it.
So, with the help of the band’s longtime friend Kevin Ratterman behind the mixing desk, James revisited and tweaked all the old material & remastered by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering, this new version still has that shimmering grandeur that lent it such a singular identity, but there is an increased strength and clarity to it now.
Everybody can relate to something they've done in their life where you didn't know it at the time, but you were rushed through finishing it. -Jim James

    Ah, that makes sense.
I am personally not in love enough with MMJ or that album to bother, but that is a cool thing for any band to do.... although perhaps all the fans deserve refunds for the original, lol.

Mfc2006 - Thanks. I tend to go on music binges. I'm really excited to spend some downtime with my turntable. This should keep me occupied for awhile.

I've bought a lot over the past few weeks, let's see if I can remember it all:

David Bowie - "Blackstar" This is the album of the year for me so far. Sounds so much better on vinyl than I ever could've imagined.

The Boxer Rebellion - "Ocean By Ocean"
-Beautiful record. If you haven't heard of these guys, do yourself a favor and check them out. Bought it directly form the band and it showed up autographed!

    Bush - "Sixteen Stone"
    -reissue

Collective Soul - "See What You Started By Continuing"
-good record and I'm glad to have some of their stuff on vinyl, but not the best sounding in my collection

    The Eagles - "Greatest Hits"
-used, but it had to be in my collection

    Foo Fighters - "St. Cecilia"

    MuteMath - "Odd Soul"

Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Blood Sugar Sex Magic"
    -2002 pressing

Stone Temple Pilots - "Tiny Music...Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop"
    - really cool pressing...was made from the mater tapes so the opening instrumental "Press Play" is significantly longer than on the CD, and there a count in to "Big Bang Baby" that's not on the CD either.

    Tool - "Lateralus"
-2LP, picture disc...found it used and since I had a coupon to my local shop I walked out only paying $8 for it!

    ...I think that's it ;-)

Didn't know the Collective Soul album was out on vinyl. Love that album but I bought the digital files when it came out since there was no vinyl.

It's a good thing that you only paid $8 for Lateralus. That vinyl is horrible!

Really don't like the direction they took after the first few records but those first two and some of the third are great. Great price on this collection too.

Do you mean the reissues of the early albums, or the 70's mainstream?

Well shit... This is what happened with DMB under the table a few years ago. It was analog to 24/96 to vinyl. People were unhappy.

they can sound great, if done correctly. I believe the recent Led Zeppelin re-issues were also done this way.

Quick research shows me you are correct. And I agree that, outside of HOH, they do sound quite good. Granted, my comparison is my old Columbia music or BMG cd's from 1989 or something. They sound like shit. I think the super anal community prefers the 2000 pure analog pressings. But those are quite expensive.

Just listened to Piper and on my humble system is sounds good. If your a fan of the early Pink Floyd, I think its a no brainer to pick these up if you don't have minty UK originals.

I love Umma. I like Piper, but it's a little to 60's sounding for me. I will check it out. And thanks for the 2nd opinion on UTTAD. I will definitely be ordering that tonight.
