nothing wrong with the grand times but please keep in mind it's better to be close to city core(old quebec) especially if you are a tourist coming for the first time. that is where you will spend your time exploring...it's sooo nice there!! not sure if this hotel is sold out yet or not...but here's a repost of that info... this is the hotel i found that i posted a couple pages before in this thread this is the closest one i found, perhaps not the cheapest 330 Rue de la Couronne, Ville de Québec, QC G1K 6E6 hotelquebec.com

hey there thanks for the recommendation i actually booked this hotel a few days ago (through expedia because i coudlnt figure out how to get the site to display in english)
anyway it says 30 minute walk on google. i dont mind a good walk if its through nice scenery- is this possible here?
and how close is this hotel to old city to do some pre show sightseeing?
NYCRATS: et al. You are likely at G. Times Lebourgneuf, ot the other is close to the Airport CYQB. Both of these are in a Power center / mall areas and thus are not good to explore and chill in the Downtown area. If you are 2 days, reconsider your location. I live by the Airport and its a 15-20 min drive to the nice hang out area. Look for a place in the New (Nouveau) Saint-Roch, and old Quebec proper IVO Carré d'Youville ex. Courtyard by Mariott Downtown, Palce Royal, ALL do not bother with other location than these two (location, not hotels per say, many, many small hotels are available that do not belong to big Banners/chains) afore-mentioned. BTW, i lives in Cole Harbour / Halifax to the Max from 2002-2009, i discovered Wintersleep + Arcade Fire at the Pop Explosion there

i got lost in translation on that post hoversmith but i think what u r trying to say is stay in downtown old quebec the hotel @ hotelquebec.com is a best western and it's pretty much the closest one i found to the venue. the walk to the venue where pj play is not through old quebec.fyi BUT the best western isn't far from old quebec either. see goggle maps for anyone who doesn't understand. it's always nice to stay right in old quebec if you can but from my experience it will be more $ and even farther away from the venue that the best western. so i picked the best western cause it's basically walking distance to the venue and downtown(old quebec) not a short walk if but certainly do-able from what i remember the walk down the hill to old quebec is a breeze but walking up that massive hill is a pain in the ass at the end of the night! hello taxi!

Just a thought but maybe some of our french friends wouldn't mind hanging out so they can translate for people? My french is good enough to get by but I'm thinking of others. I'd be willing to do my best for others? Last time I visited Quebec they didn't seem to care much for english haha
Adolescence in essence is all about trust.
Leaving is for the answering machine.
Since Québec is a touristic city, if you speak slowly and don't use a big slang they will understand you and be happy to help you. Just don't be an ass or try to give an English lesson to someone who tries to help you. If you speak French and you feel like you don’t understand a single word, don’t panic! Even a French from France doesn't always understand our French.

I second Longueil, And in general, the more you initiate in French and try using the whatever amount of French you may have, the more it will be returned you. Lets see if this makes sence, if the person serving, helping you figures out you have more French than he has English he will insulted you don't use it. If your French is all but basic and polite greetings, he won't be afraid or shy to use his probably limited English. Its some what about showing humility i think...

HOw about an American who took French in High School about 30 years ago...I better practice some phrases....oh, and how's UBER in QC?
Hi all! We are coming up from Bar Harbor, Maine and thanks to the generosity of a friend and her extra GA tix, we are bringing our 10 year old son for his first show! He says he will do whatever it takes to get to the rail even if it means getting in line before dawn and waiting all day, but I would love for him to get to see some of the city and we only have that one day to be there. I hope people end up being ok if he and his Dad join me in line part way through the day. This will be our first time doing GA and I am not sure what the vibe will be like for that kind of a scenario. Thoughts?! Travel safe and see everyone at the show!
