I bought one. Will be a nice backpack to take on trips and hopefully will get before next Friday to take down to Rio and Bogota! Not too thrilled with the color scheme but it is a backpack so don't really care.
Damn that is a hideous backpack. I still have the other Patagonia backpack they made for PJ20 and it's still "like new" and has been very durable. This new bag seems to be essentially weatherproof which is nice I guess, but wow, someone has bad taste.

I think the white knights always defending "10 club" are equally impressive. Its just a critique of the item... relax. If anything, it will give flippers a second thought and maybe folks who actually want one to use and not sell or trade will be able to buy it.
I think it looks like a trash bag with some lime green piping that says "pearl jam" on it. To me it looks like they are attempting to test the theory of "if it says Pearl Jam on it, can we sell anything?"
Patagonia are great bags for the most part in the way of quality. I have a PJ20 one and use it a few times a year and it serves me quite well. 10 club does a great job otherwise I wouldn't be here.

I was thinking the same, would be great for the SA tour but will be leaving on the 18th, will not be shipped by then... so I will pass, color scheme bothers me a little bit, but there are people that like small portions ;-)

Patagonia stuff is great quality. Colors are not the best, but I dig it. Just hope they stuff them with left overs from the warehouse before they ship. I don't care if mine is not sealed. What do you think Santos? Random mystery backpacks stuffed with goodies for Christmas?? Especially to those of us that bought them without bitching about tenclub all the time???
I typically look down on these merch offerings as cash grabs. There have been some pretty goofy, non-functional items, or functional items at ridiculous prices that people love, love, love. But I don't see an issue here. This is something useful and functional. This is priced appropriately for the product as evidenced from the prices on Patagonia's website. I'd snatch up the messenger bag if it wasn't so close to the holidays. Trying to save some cash for holiday gift giving, possible tour date(s), etc...People can rag on the color, and I can see why this wouldn't appeal to some, but I think it looks great. It looks like it belongs in Seattle these days. That vibrant green has been used by the Seattle Seahawks, and Seattle Sounders in recent years. So good job 10c. If it is still around post-holidays (and with all of the bitching about it, that's a possibility), I may just grab one for myself.

$129 seems expensive for me and I'm not big on the design. I don't like shiny platicy exteriors. I like more of the fabric/mesh look (like the older ones).
I have no problem with PJ selling merch. The more they put out the more often they are bound to sell something I want.
I do predict these will sell out and be worth a mint in two years time.

I agree. I have no issues with merch (well... those Falla Sheep were over the top, but...). I'm happy that other are happy if I'm not personally interested. I'm still going to have an opinion, but if I don't have to like something it doesn't mean I don't think they should exist. It is the plastic coating appearance on the bags that turn me off. Although I guess it probably makes them water resistant or waterproof.

I have noticed that this neon green is becoming stylish again. I've been seeing it on plenty of accessories and sports gear, etc. It's not for me, but it's definitely in line with current styles.
