    Some people on this thread, and others, have expressed the fear that when people no longer believe in God there is no reason for them to behave in a moral fashion. Just a few pages back the spectre of a godless nation where violence runs rampant was raised.

    Those of us who do not believe in god know otherwise, so it's good to have this confirmed. This link gives some interesting facts on how kids do when they are raised in a secular home - in lots of ways, they behave in a more moral, ethical fashion. Some of the countries with the lowest rate of religious belief also have the lowest crime rates. And finally, the rates of atheists in the prison populations, when last studied, was close to zero.
