    i highly imagine these folks defending her wouldn't feel the same if someone denied Christians something because of their religious beliefs....you know like not selling someone guns. deny someone a marriage license but don't dare put any restrictions on guns. very very interesting take on things some folks have.

    No kidding. I did a little digging and found the median wage for a Highway Patrol officer is $47.841 (just to make some kind of comparison). Certainly a more difficult and dangerous job than issuing marriage certificates (and she doesn't even do her job correctly). Talk about a waste of money!

    It might be simple for you to eat elsewhere or for that gay couple to seek licenses in another county......however did you give it some thought that it could be crucial that they get their license in the county they live in. That would be important to me.....it's possible they might not be able to get to another county, why should they go elsewhere to make life easier for this 80k job of Mrs Davis.

    Seems you have an easy convenient answer for what this clerk is NOT doing of which there's a law that says she should be issuing licenses to gay couples regardless of what you think or feel about gay marriage.

    I'm guessing that when you say "church" you're speaking about Christianity in general? Because this ridiculous woman is an apostolic Christian and probably considers the pope to be the anti Christ and Catholicism the gold-paved road to Hell. I can't foresee her version of Christianity evolving any time soon.

    I think this see you next tuesday is really getting off on her little moment in the spotlight. Absolutely pathetic.
    I totally agree that that bizarre fucking scene in front of the jail or whatever was absolutely horrifying. I think it's really scary that there are people like this in the USA, but even worse, is the fact that people like this get support from politicians who are running for President. Jesus fucking Christ. I'm scared of this just because I'm in a country bordering the one where it happened. I can't imagine how I'd feel if I were actually American. Anyway, that little performance was really embarrassing and surreal, and I really hope it comes back to bite Huckabee, that lunatic, in the ass someday.

    Could be although I suspect she's more likely just a plain old "fundy" (fundamentalist Christian).

    (A little side note Chadwick- noticed your signature quote. I recently finished reading Kent Nerburn's book, Chief Joseph and the Flight of the Nez Perce. It's such an amazing book about such an incredible person/people, Chief Joseph and those he was in flight with. I'm still massively overwhelmed and awed after having read it.)

    Referring to Christianity as a whole(along with other religions that will take longer) not this woman's particular cult. The word Appostic has no meaning. No value.

    The Bible is a fantasy book and religious leaders will make it as palatable as possible to hang on. In end though it will fall into it's proper section in library next to greek mythology.
