Saw this on FB (along with that nauseating photo of Davis):

"Well this is a bit of a circus. So let us be clear: This woman is no hero to be celebrated. She broke her oath to uphold the Constitution and defied a court order so she could deny government services to couples who are legally entitled to be married. She is entitled to hold her religious beliefs, but not to impose those beliefs on others. If she had denied marriage certificates to an interracial couple, would people cheer her? Would presidential candidates flock to her side? In our society, we obey civil laws, not religious ones. To suggest otherwise is, simply put, entirely un-American."

  • Sheesh. So she's going back to work. Eighty grand for basically refusing to do her job and no mechanism to remove her from her post. I bet when the time comes she's reelected too.

I walked in the house and the TV was on and my husband was watching and his mouth was wide open in shock and he said you have to see this and he backed up to show me that whack job walking out to Eye of the Tiger and it was like The Onion come to life.

I am from a small town in the south. I live in LA now and I go to church regularly. I am sick of nut job Christians like Kim Davis making the rest of us look insane.

I go to church. And I don't give a rat's ass if you do or you don't or if you worship TV remotes. It's your business, not mine. But I believe in separation of church and state.

    Thanks for letting me vent.

Don't say thanks to anyone for venting on this AMT.

I don't go to church anymore (no, that's not true, wilderness hikes, sitting on rocks at the seashore watching waves crash in, etc. is my church) but I used to. But either way, that's not something I judge or praise people for. I've known some really horrible church going people and I've known some remarkable church going people. And I would expand that to include all people of faith. Same with atheists. There are incredibly marvelous atheists (Kurt Vonnegut comes to mind right off) and atheists who are terrible people. But you're right, Enkidu, it frustrating to belong to a group and have it marred by self-righteous people like Davis. Maybe that's why for the most part I'm a lone wolf. The closest thing to a group that I belong to is this fan club- and probably because we are a diverse, interesting, and for the most part, fairly intelligent mixture of people. A good place to be.

just sayin, maybe I'm wrong, either way I don't really care if she goes back to jail, sues or what ever else, you guy's know how I feel about gay marriage but my statement has nothing to do with that, I'm just wondering if she can be thrown in jail for her religious befiefs ? there seems to be a lot going on with that topic lately.

things that will come into play if she takes this to court.
