We would be blind not to admit that it is a mostly right wing held belief that gays should not be married. Gern is on very solid ground.

Yes it is a tea party belief...I would venture to say that the majority of republicans support gay marriage. It's the fringe that doesn't and they just happen to have the biggest mouths so we hear about it more.

But this, now that you've clarified, is an extremist view vs the general right winger comment from earlier? This should be differentiated, no? Much as we do with people who live peaceful religious lives and those who take it to ridiculous edges.

This will force the church to evolve even faster if it wants to survive. The current pope knows this and he's fighting.

Heres the deal Ky law requires(d) the name of the license issuing county clerk on the document. She refused. Fine. But because a name was required she prevented staff from issuing in her name citing her belifes. Again fine. Prior to a finding of contempt she was offered the resulting compromise that got her out in the end. She refused. Not fine. This was all for show.

This should have stayed at state level or the ky legislature should have held emergency session to remove the name requirement.maybe the governor could have ordered a temp suspension of the requirement until they could meet.

THIS WAS NOT an effort to punish belief. She was elected to serve the public. All of the public. She chose to not seek the win-win for all parties. Instead she was advised and chose spectacle. It was a sham.

GF, let's keep this simple and not try to separate parts of her job. I believe her primary job is to issue marriage licenses to all, not marry gay couples. This controversy has nothing to do with other religious beliefs, it has to be focused on the specifics of this case. Her contempt charge given by the judge is for refusal for issuing out those licenses. Then sent to jail, so I don't see on ANY GROUNDS where she has a case to sue and then sue to what become a bigger so called martyr?
