Hello all!
We wanted to let everyone know that we'll all be taking a break from The Gaslight Anthem after this next European tour in August. We're all going to do other projects and stay active in some way or another, both in and out of music, but we'd like to step away from the band until we decide what we'd like to do next.
We'd like to recharge and take a step back until we have something we feel excited about rather than going right back to making a record just for the sake of making the next record. We all feel this is the best decision we can make and it feels like the right one for us.
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our band for the last eight years and we'll see you down the road!
With love and respect,
Brian, Benny, Alex and Alex.0 -
Oh boy. Don't like the sound of this.
Although not shocked0 -
I hope it's more of a we are getting out of the album every two year routine and need a break than them saying they basically broke up.

Definitely not a break up. They have been touring and writing for the last 8 years. They just need a vacation like PJ has learned to take. I think everyone will agree that this was a good thing once you hear how awesome the next record will be. I do hope that they are touring for their 10 year anniversary though...2003: 7/14 NJ ... 2006: 6/1 NJ, 6/3 NJ ... 2007: 8/5 IL ... 2008: 6/24 NY, 6/25 NY, 8/7 EV NJ ... 2009: 10/27 PA, 10/28 PA, 10/30 PA, 10/31 PA

All in all I think it's just a break. They have toured solid for 8 years and recorded albums basically every two years.
Fallon is surely doing a solo project of some kind (or maybe a HC album). So that should make the break seem shorter.
I also think this is mostly Fallon driven. He's been sort of public about his divorce and i think it weighs on the band.
I think he needs to go through his late 80s Bruce phase a bitPost edited by Daron Oshay on0 -

Let's hope for a 10th anniversary album/tour in 2017
6 albums in ten years is better than most bands. Cough cough.0 -
What I'm thinking as well.Force Of Nature said:Hopefully just a break, like the foo fighters did a couple years ago.
They've toured pretty steady the past few years. Time for a deserved break from the action.

I'm glad they are taking a break. I feel like Get Hurt was their weakest album. I've tried to listen to it many times and it just sounds forced. Hopefully they will come back excited to make another TGA album together. Looking forward to a new Horrible Crowes album.1991- Hollywood Palladium, California with Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains -RIP Magazine Show Oct. 6th

The single was an acoustic version of great expectations from a radio show and 59 sound recorded during the get hurt b side takes. Card board sleeve looks like a pj bootleg. At least it came this calendar year.1998: Cleveland
