I had this guy selling some magic cleaner and I couldn't get him to go away...he basically barged his way in to show me how it would clean my stove and when I wouldn't buy any he was a total asshole....I couldn't believe how rude he got it was like are you serious???Music is my Religion and Pearl Jam, my Savior!

Not exactly door to door solicitation, but this winter we had an issue. My husband went out to shovel the drive and found a guy unloading a snowblower at the bottom of our driveway. "I'm just going to get this cleaned for you." My husband isn't a tiny, frail looking guy. "No dude," he says with shovel in hand, "I've got this." "No, I've got it. I'll get it for you." "Dude, the driveway is gravel. You don't got it." The guy finally left, but had Mark not gone out at that point, the guy would have done his thing and would have demanded payment. Um, no.
He does listen to death metal, so perhaps I should keep some at the ready in the living room.2014: Cincinnati

Election season is the worst. I live next to a voting place and even though they're not supposed to be x amount of feet from the entrance they just stay on the corner and try to catch you when you walk by. I have to pass them to get where I'm going, there's no way around them. I had 2 ass clowns come by last week with that. It wasn't to keep them off drugs but to buy inner city youths some books. I know its a scam but sometimes I will say I can't pay for what you want but here is 5 bucks. These two were ass clowns as at first they went 'we cant take donations' and said no. One then looked at the other and said can't we just add it to another order and took my money. The whole time I had this annoyed look. Slightly off topic .... I was walking in a neighbourhood park a few days ago and saw some new graffiti on a stone bench - "666 I love Satin". My dad told me about his first job out of college. Yup, door to door, selling knives. Had to go to a training thing where they told you how to demonstrate each knife and it's utility and how to sell to those stay at home moms. This was in the early 50's. So my dad got all excited because he mastered the art of "selling" knives in the all day training session and he was released to sell. Big black carrying case the size of a carry on full of knives. Goes to the first house, rings the bell and lo and behold, his verbal selling skills get him in for the demo. And that, along with making the rounds after 9:00 and before 4:00, when the husbands weren't home to tell you to get lost, was the key to getting rich. So he goes in, does his demo, the lady is totally buying it, he's psyched to make his first sale and is going to be rich, when it comes time for the demo of the blades' durability by cutting a penny in half with the kitchen shears. And he puts the penny in, give the spiel and clamps down on the scissors. Well, the penny is indeed cut in half but one half gets shot like a bullet clear across the living room and takes out the Tiffany lamp. Shattered glass everywhere, aghast house wife and my dad packing his things up, apologizing and backing out of the house like cat and the hat. Resigned that very day right after. He lasted one house!
