Just had a look and these sound fantastic - I love the ones written on torn paper bags, hotel stationary, napkins, etc!

When I click the link to pjcollectors, the first rule says no auctions. Here no auctions are allowed either. What's the difference between a "good" home here or there? I also think and this is just my opinion but the detractors are kind of angry with the way this went down and rightfully so.

Did you read the thread ? It's dealt with right there. Pjc is a fan run community .... The rules are there for a reason... This is fine. It's firstly run by me ... And supports charity. I drafted those rules and from time to time there can be exemptions

Sorry to have disappointed you. I do respect your opinion and take on board what you say. I have done as asked and let me confirm for anyone wondering , I don't earn a bean on these sales or ask anything I return. I do it because I love bringing the cool opportunities to these parts and hopefully making folk happy along the way

It's a shame on this occasion that intention has failed

I'd love to get in on one of these, but the wife would have my ass if I even considered it.

I think the sale is fair and reasonable. The seller probably could have taken these to an actual auction house and made a shit ton of money selling to some douchey private collector.

Thanks for the work Paul. I personally appreciate the opportunity you are providing us at the shot of owning a cool piece of PJ memorabilia. Looking forward to these sales.

Hey, Paul. Thanks for running this special auction to bring it to some of us that would collect these things. While these may be expensive, they are unique items that probably could have even been given back to the band. I think some people are just already bitter that they really cannot afford these, especially at the highest bid price. Don't take that personally... Keep sharing this stuff in the future. Peace.

No worries Paul - not everyone is pissed.
I'm glad you bring these opportunities to the forum.

I don't think there's many that are bitter about this. Some people are naturally going to be disappointed because of the uniqueness of the opportunity and we see how crazy prices with other auctions can get.

However, I think everyone will agree Paul has put in a great effort to give real fans a shot at these. People shouldn't be pissed off even if they are unlikely to be able to to acquire one.

    This thread should be closed.

    Sorry but this is BS.

It IS an auction and being sold secondhand at an offsite board. That board clearly states NO auctions are allowed.

Nothing against OP. But this sale is designed to generate profit via a blindbid auction. Nothing cool or fan friendly about that. Starting price is $400 per setlist and they came from someone who used to deal with PJ? That's about as unban friendly as Lost Dogs can get.

Hopefully admin will do the right thing.

Too many are not reading the sticky FAQ and have missed the part about no auctions. This forum is about PJ fan to PJ fan and in that spirit, you must list your reasonable asking price for an item you want to part with. Please read the FAQ if you haven't already. Thank you.

Nothing about trolling. At all. That's ridiculous.

This place is supposed to be a venue where fans help other fans find items at reasonable, market-value, SET prices. That's why the moderators have stickied posts saying NO AUCTIONS.

This is 100 percent an auction.

At least on eBay, you can see what others are bidding. With a blind auction -- bids submitted via email -- the sole result is to pump up the final price for the anonymous bidder (and someone who originally got these pricey items for free). Factor in that the auction is being hosted at a secondary site, and this goes against everything Lost Dogs and the PJ board is supposed to be set up for.

I have NOTHING against the OP and he's obviously a "good" collector. But some people's allegiances are blinding them to the facts at hand. Take out the name of the OP and cool collector status and this thread would've been shut down by all within hours.

Last time I'll post in this thread. But I felt this was worth saying since Lost Dogs has been pushing the boundaries for the last couple years about what's actually legit and fan friendly about selling/trading on a PJ-run FAN BOARD.

The band makes money and they sell things. We collect, trade and sell -- with set prices. But supporting a blind auction that's being run by a secondhand party for first-bid $400 setlists isn't fan friendly and has nothing to do with what Lost Dogs was set up for.

You have every right to disagree with any piece of this sale and your voice has been heard.

However, Kat is very capable of understanding and enforcing her own rules. This thread has been at the top of Lost Dogs long enough for her to stumble onto it and close it if she wanted.

Paul is giving us a chance to set the market price on these pieces of the band's history. The seller could have just as easily set a price of $1000 each...that would have been within the strictest interpretation of the rules and some would have sold at that price but it wouldn't have been better for a majority of us that couldn't afford that.

Also, without him this lot goes to auction at Sotheby's and doesn't make it to any of us.

So I thank Paul for the work he is doing to give me a chance to buy one of these.

Thanks Shannon. Appreciate it very much

That said I'm not here to cause any hassle. There is a element of resentment that is clear and that isn't something I'm comfortable with.

This thread is done. I'll focus my efforts elsewhere.

There will be folk doing the let's sneakily pm
The admins trick because they don't want to be seen. Again I'm not here for that.

As a guy who's earned over yes over $150,000 for charity in 8 years running sales here .... Nearing $200,000 .... And earned not a cent ..,, I'd be lying to say I'm not disappointed but life goes on. There will be a slice of this sale doing good too....and I'll remain extremely happy knowing there are good people out there, and this guy is without question one of those

With that. I'm out. Please let this thread drop off the radar.

Come on guys, this seems to be a once in a lifetime opportunity for most of us and now it is more or less ruined because of hairsplitting. In my opinion this is BS and not that Paul organizes a great auction at PJC. Again, thanks Paul and keep it up, please!

Too bad this ended this way.

Anyone thinking that they were going to score one of these for $100 is out of their damn mind. A really quick search of the sale prices of hand written setlists at auction ( not ebay but actual auction houses) will tell you otherwise.

A Nirvana setlist recently sold for just shy of $10K. The kicker, it was written by Grohl.

An early U2 setlist just went for close to $6K.

An Oasis setlist that was a computer printout with some scribbling by Noel Gallagher went for $1,200.

I'm guessing most of these would go for $1,500 - 3,500 a pop at auction.

Hopefully the amount they save from auction house fees (Sotheby's / Ebay) can end up doing good for charity.

I don't think anyone thought they'd get a 20 year set list hand written by ed for $100. I'm pretty sure the problem is (and again absolutely no disrespect to Paul) the seller gauged interest. It was there. Then a thread was started to see who was interested in what setlist. It was passed around and people were genuinely excited and posted what they were interested in. Everyone then waited for an asking price. When a silent auction was put out it was evident the seller wanted top dollar; and again I am not ridiculing the seller but the notion was passed by the middleman that he wanted to make sure the set list was going to the right home and that this was actually "proven" by a 7 day auction probably pissed a lot of people off.
As we move forward I really hope Paul doesn't get too mad and not present these awesome memorabilia in the future and I wish everyone with deep pockets good luck in securing their set lists.
As of today I will be saving up for a hand written set list from my first pj show, randall's island night two.

I have to answer this, way too many assumptions. I started the thread too early out of excitement ... I was waiting on pricing but it was me who jumped the gun. The seller wasn't fishing.

I think he was well aware of what he had, without having to come here to gauge interest. That's a ridiculous suggestion.

I'm big enough to hold my hand up. The seller is a good guy, a real nice dude, and his intentions are genuine and I can't have his motives questioned without putting the facts straight.

It's too bad the thought that he would want people here to be prioritized in getting these is so hard to understand as a concept. I now believe he should have gone to ebay and cleaned up. You know what? it was me that suggested this place as the ideal place to make his aims possible

I then suggested Pjc .. But certain folk who need to find something else in their lives decided to cause trouble there too.

Well as they say you live and you learn. And boy am I learning

So, it was me who gauged interest here ... Disrespect away
