Are there any U.S. festivals that have teased about releasing their line-ups on Friday?
If so, that could be a clue re: a festival show.
I think PJ would put on their own end of summer festival, ala PJ20, before they would get added as an afterthought to some other festival. Has a big festival not released their lineup yet?

Outside Lands festival... their early bird tickets go on sale Thursday. Wishful thinking.

I don't see it likely that Friday is the South America announcement. Mostly because the rumors were for November and I believe mainly festivals. Seems too early to announce that.
I have a feeling Europe is out at least as a full tour, since they did that last year.
I can see a handful of Canadian dates.
My true guess is something so like the pre backspacer summer tour. Maybe a couple of dates in Europe, a few in Canada and a couple of major US cities around a festival.
The only US rumor I remember seeing recently was Nashville at Vanderbilt Stadium. Can't remember where I saw that. Selfishly besides something tri-state area that's what I'd like to see. I'll be in Nashville in June and I'd move the trip if needed.
This tour will mimic the tour in 2011. Only one show in the US with a "big" event type of show to kick it off at the end of September at either the Gorge or MSG. Then a small tour in Canada in October and a tour nine SA in November.
I just hope that whatever they announce on Friday, it announces ALL of the dates they are playing this year instead of announcing other shows at another time. That way everyone can start making plans, etc

I really think there will be at a good number of US dates: I would assume the majority of their fan base is concentrated in the US. I also assume that the picture of a concert crowd means what it looks like it means- a tour announcement. Why build such anticipation and get the hopes up of so many people to announce something comparatively obscure? I don't recall this much fanfare for the announcement of Lightning Bolt's tour outside the US.
However, I do posses a bit of a counter-thesis- It would seem illogical to announce a tour the same week as Alice in Chains announced one, and only two weeks after STP did. On top of that, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and U2 are all touring this summer as well.
