I think that painting is fugly, and would never hang that up!
That being said, I could never draw or paint anything like that or paint vedder to look anything
like that, but everyone is entitled to their opinion and everyone should agree on that!Cant buy what i want cause its free....0 -
There is nothing wrong with criticizing art. There is nothing wrong with ruthlessly criticizing art. If an artist is going to cry about his or her publicly displayed art being criticized, that's his or her problem, not the critic's.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. First, I really don't think that the lesson on apologizing vs. half-apologizing was necessary.what dreams said:For what it's worth, I never called anyone a bully. I think I used the word "mean." The word choices used in the "critique" seemed to be directed at the artist, not the art. If the original poster had commented on the use of color, shape, form, style, tone, or anything else an art "critic" does, a reasonable discussion could have followed about the merits of the painting. Seeing that it's a copy of a photograph, I have to say it's not that bad of a copy and it took a lot of attention to detail to capture the texture of the photo.
From my perspective, the intent of the post was to poke fun. Then the half apology occurred. In life in general, I have a really hard time with people who say "Sorry if I offend you BUT . . ." People who include the BUT half of the sentence are not sorry. Truly sorry people change their behavior and just don't say what they are going to say. They don't precede their insulting comments with an acknowledgement that they are about to insult someone.
I appreciate the fact that people are ready to move on, and this is the last I will speak on this post.
Second, it has been established and agreed upon that I am a fucking judgmental asshole who was mean to the point of bullying-douchebaggery and insincerely apologized only in an attempt to save face. I appreciate you reiterating that to some degree, thank you.
Lastly (for now), from my perspective, if someone truly does appreciate the fact that people are ready to move on from something then they should be willing let it go rather than to add their two-cents worth of commentary - particularly if the commentary is inciting in some manner. Actually, I guess there is a difference in realizing that people are ready to move on and being willing to move, so...disregard what I just said.
Now, if we're ready to move on, I hope everyone has a great weekend... If we aren't, I will be periodically checking in, and I suppose I look forward to more lessons in humility for my flawed approach and all the other surrounding bullshit.Post edited by BRAIN0FJAY on...So much talk it makes no sense at all...0 -

I am so sick of people being offended all the time. I just don't care. I don't give a fuck if someone is offended anymore (including myself if talking about what anyone else thinks if i get offended). It's just boring and meaningless. That doesn't mean I'm running around offending people without a care in the world - i don't like hurting people. It's just that "being offended" is treated as though some crime's been committed. I'm becoming numb to the whole thing.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -

I would like to give sincere thanks all the critics here. In the event that some of the hard-core critics among you might end up reading it, I am genuinely motivated to get off the internet and get back to working on the third draft of the book I'm currently writing.
haha!
