Where would you put Eddie Vedder on a list of Top 20 Rock Lead Vocalists?

If that lists refers to vocals only, it is WAY off. If it refers to frontmen, then yes, i would put ed in the top 5. Plant is #1 either way. Young shouldnt be on either list.By The Time They Figure Out What Went Wrong, We'll Be Sitting On A Beach, Earning Twenty Percent.0

I actually laughed when I saw Neil's name on there, and I'm a HUGE fan.paulonious said:If that lists refers to vocals only, it is WAY off. If it refers to frontmen, then yes, i would put ed in the top 5. Plant is #1 either way. Young shouldnt be on either list.

Oh my. I'll have to back away from this conversation before I get weirdly defensive on behalf of Neil Young and Bob Dylan.paulonious said:

They have Neil Young at #10 for vocals???????
Neil is a great songwriter and I like his work, but singing is in no way his strength.

Well it is one of his main strengths iMO - his voice is a large part of what makes his music so amazing. But his vocal sound is just too weird to be on a list like this.Jason P said:They have Neil Young at #10 for vocals???????

I'm actually very surprised with the list, I respect all those vocalists and most of them never get any props. Yeah for the list!0 -
Obviously click bait. Every other guitarist there is massively influential and/or the driving force in their respective bands.Jason P said:They have McCready at #19 in rock guitarists

I would put Ed as the best frontman of all time. Would be a tight race though with Bono and Bruce. I think Ed makes a better connection with the crowd.0

I would say Ed would be top 5 easy, with mucho consideration for No 1. Everyone knows his voice, how many lead singers made money imitating? Too many (looking at you lead singer of Creed)Post edited by Foriginal Sin onChicago 6/29/98, Alpine Valley(EV) 6/13/99, Alpine Valley 10/08/00, Chicago 10/09/00, Phoenix 10/20/00, Orlando 4/12/03, Tampa 4/13/03, San Diego 6/05/03, Vegas 6/06/03, Phoenix 6/07/03, Chicago 6/18/03, Alpine Valley 6/21/03, Orlando 10/08/04, D.C. 10/11/04, Chicago 5/16/06, Chicago 5/17/06, LA 7/12/08, Chicago 8/23/09, Chicago 8/24/09, LA 10/07/09, San Diego 10/09/09 (Front Row Center, Finally), Phoenix(EV) 11/4/11, Wrigley 7/19/13, Phoenix 11/19/13, Denver 10/22/14, Wrigley 8/20/16, Wrigley 8/22/160

Maynard James Keenan and Scott Weiland deserve a little bit more love in my opinion. So versatile and Maynard's lungs are among the best in the business (army and cross country training paid off).
I think if you looked solely at baritones Ed would be right at the top. So many people tried to do the same in the wake of Ten, some sounded good but never had the impact Ed did for me.
Weiland wasn't one of the Ed wannabes. Mighty Joe Young was doing their thing with a lot of Core songs before PJ formed. And Tiny Music should have disspelled any myths.
Cobain and Lennon are in similar boats for me too. Such beautiful and accessible voices which played huge parts in making their bands what they are-just guess they didn't perform the vocal acrobatics Cornell Halford et al did in the eyes of a lot of people.Stars are suns to other people.
