Where would you put Eddie Vedder on a list of Top 20 Rock Lead Vocalists?

Ed won't be #1 but he should be in the top 10 for sure. Early days his persona was way to intense & he is not say a performer such as Jagger or Mercury but if there was a top 10 for the most the important front man with everything he does off the stage as well as on it & his songwriting he would be #1.Eastern Creek 95,Syd 1 98,Bris 2 98, Syd 1&2 03, Reading Fest 06, Bris 1 06, London 09, Hyde Park 10, Gold Coast BDO 14 Budapest 22 Krakow 22 Amsterdam 22 St Paul 1&2 23 Chicago 1&2 23 Chicago 1&2 24 New York 1 24 Philly 1&2 24 Boston 1&2 24 Gold Coast 24 Melbourne 1 24 Sydney 1&2 240

No Josh Homme?Flanders0

im quite happy to see him at #20

1. Mick Jagger (because of longevity, songwriting--so many great albums, the British invasion factor, stage presence and showmanship, and a voice that is unique as it is impressive)
And then everyone else and I wouldn't argue against Ed being in the 2 spot.

I'd make a good case for Joe Cocker to be on that list along with many other names mentioned here. I don't know, man. PJ is my favorite band of all time, but I don't know if I could even put Ed in the "Top 20 Rock Lead Vocalists of All Time."Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250

ANOTHER great one mentioned here...the fact that the only woman on the list is Stevie Nicks says a lot about the quality of the list!!HesCalledDyer said:I'd make a good case for Joe Cocker to be on that list along with many other names mentioned here. Are we talking voices or stage presence or writting skills ...
If we are talking voices i'd say Ian Gillan the original Deep Purple front man def deserves to be way up there ...
1-Plant
2-Gillan
3-daltrey
4-Mercury
All the rest can follow .....Post edited by josevolution onjesus greets me looks just like me ....0 -
I'd say, objectively, That he is one of the most influential rock vocalists since, say, 1965 or so. Sadly, he's mostly influenced shitty musicians. Also objectively, I'd say he's one of the most technically talented and famous vocalists in the history of hard rock music. So yeah... he's up there with Janis Joplin, Little Richard, Bob Dylan... folks who really changed the game...KORITFW0

i could take or leave him in the top 20. Been a lot of great singers through the years. He is instantly recognizable, a great lyricist and has a great onstage presence, so it'd be hard to exclude him.
Not sure I'd say he's all that influential. More imitated, which I look at differently than being a real influence. A lot of bands latched onto the growls vocals early on, once they seen it was popular, but there hasn't been a huge lasting impact.0 -
how did the Amazing Scott Stapp get overlooked? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA0 -
There are several on that list that I wouldn't have on there at all... but anyway, I agree with #s 1, 2. Decent list. I would replace some with much more obscure people, and Jack White and Josh Home need to be on there too.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
