I don't think that anyone here - even those of us who are anti-interventionist (myself included) - think these atrocities are remotely justifiable. We all have the same goal: stop the madness. We just have different points of view in terms of how we get there.

    Religion is a subset of something larger, which is freedom of self-expression. I suspect if you take away religion for a week, you'd see an uptick in nationalism related extremism. Until we actively seek diversity in personalities/beliefs/cultures, we are doomed to remain intolerant, indifferent, and abusive towards each other.

    Edit: Also, if we crave the diversity, I think we'd see a paradigm shift from a desire to 'fit in' to a desire to 'fit out'. And if we're all looking for scenarios different from us, we stop caring about the 'collective' we live within, and the relevance of these collectives should dissipate naturally.

    Nart and fuck have both mentioned here that Islam teaches the importance of recognizing diversity and the need for non-Muslims in the world: it's a shame that these extremist attacks are such a blatant betrayal of noble ideals.

    If you like it, it's yours, though now that I'm thinking about it, it might be the wrong term.

    To be a true ideologue would require a proper and innate 'ranking' of ideologies - one of them being interventionism. I consider myself an ideologue, and since I hold certain ideologies in a higher regard than interventionism, I couldn't call myself an anti-interventionist 100% of the time (though mostly I find when I think longer term, an anti-interventionist opinion is aligned with my other more-preferred ideologies). I know this kind of thinking borders on robotic, but I guess it's my mildly OCD, system-obsessed mind that's produced it.

    Humans are weak easily manipulated sheep. And though Gods are not the entire reason maybe if we just said " Look there are no Gods. There are no holy books" and just get it over with rather than pandering to human insecurity.

    Boggles the mind how we allow this charade to continue.

    Yes I realize this had little to do with religion but maybe leaders would have harder time recruiting once we took this ploy away. This post is not directed at only Muslims but all religions/gods.

    retaliation. Their claim is this was done to strike back in the same way that Pakistan at our behest or backed by us has done to them. This school in particular as they were the children of soldiers in that fight to abolish the taliban.

    What the US fails to see or arrogantly ignores is how peoples in the various regions we stick our nose in are likely to respond to us imposing our will to protect our "interests" . With peoples with revenge on their heart or nothing to lose otherwise , how can they really be defeated?

    There is no way this stops. it only progresses to eventual annihilation of all peoples everywhere..
