How about instead of asking what PJ can do for us, what we can do for PJ? (And no, I don't mean buy more merchandise.)

I'd be completely on board with the Wishlist thing at the Gorge. That's more like it! ... As long as PJ is into it, that is. I'm going to hope that Wishlist runs it by 10C or something first. And They'd be a lot more likely to be into it if it's close to home, arranged by Wishlist, with whom I think they have a good relationship, and at a desirable venue for a lot of fans. As for it being October 22nd.... sounds good to me. I don't mind a little rain. Much better than 100+ degrees!Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

The best thing Mr. Wonderful from 'Shark Tank' has ever said: Tne thing I hate about crowd sourcing, once your money is in, its in. The host has NO LEGAL obligation to provide the service you are requesting. This quote isn't exactly how he put it but pretty close, i.e. Scam central.Post edited by Foriginal Sin onChicago 6/29/98, Alpine Valley(EV) 6/13/99, Alpine Valley 10/08/00, Chicago 10/09/00, Phoenix 10/20/00, Orlando 4/12/03, Tampa 4/13/03, San Diego 6/05/03, Vegas 6/06/03, Phoenix 6/07/03, Chicago 6/18/03, Alpine Valley 6/21/03, Orlando 10/08/04, D.C. 10/11/04, Chicago 5/16/06, Chicago 5/17/06, LA 7/12/08, Chicago 8/23/09, Chicago 8/24/09, LA 10/07/09, San Diego 10/09/09 (Front Row Center, Finally), Phoenix(EV) 11/4/11, Wrigley 7/19/13, Phoenix 11/19/13, Denver 10/22/14, Wrigley 8/20/16, Wrigley 8/22/160

That's probably true.... or not. I haven't read the policies. I just don't like that the band isn't involved from the beginning. People should have to get the go ahead from them first. Otherwise it just kind of seems like a fan bullying tactic. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

Oh my goodness I feel like we're headed for an early 90s style east coast vs. west coast schism in the PJ fan community!
 /end sarcasm
I didn't wanna get involved with the crowdfunding thing regardless of who is doing it right now cuz it's not a good time for me, but the thing that stood out in my mind from reading the Fakebook thing in the beginning was the comment about "we pearl jam fans deserve the best".Um. No.

I agree that doing this with a closed or private group, as has been done, is utter bullshit.josevolution said:fuck facebook and all it's private/closed groups and fuck this idea , i live here in NY .....

Haha, I'm just playing and kind of agree that crowdsourcing is actually goofy. But it does raise the point of how different the music industry is versus pretty much every other industry... only in the music industry would customers (us) feel bad about offering the product provider (a band) money to do what they are in the business of doing!! It would be like feeling bad for gathering up 1 billion dollars and offering it to Microsoft for a new product!!PJ_Soul said:ckravitz said:Western US people yesterday: Crowdsourcing sucks.

Yes, well of course that is a result of the fact that music is art that people take in on a deeply emotional level, and which the artists offer on a deeply emotional level, and there are specific personalities who we are actually connecting with on a human level when it comes to a band. Not so with faceless corporations!ckravitz said:

The question I have for wishlist members is, are they automatically getting tix while the rest of us have to go into a lottery? And why keep this shit private and now all of a sudden come forth with this? Because of the New York show?
Some people come here and talk shit about one crowd sourcing show and are all up for one being held by wishlist? I don't trust anyone and think both sides are questionable. And what's with all this hippie let's all camp and get "grungy" at the gorge? Give me manhattan ANYDAY over some place I have to worry about where the fuck I'm gonna shit. Fuck that. I have $100 for a show at msg, make that happen and fuck both crowd sourcing shit.0

Of course all the Wishlist people and all their friends will automatically get tix. I'd say that's a given. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

I'm in agreement with the bullying the band into a no win situation here. I don't like it at all. No matter who is trying to crowd source, NY or Whishlist. Also, i'm in complete agreement with the fuck Facebook crowd. I've been very vocal about hating Facebook for years but this situation is even worse. Why hasn't either of these ideas been mentioned here on the FAN CLUB site!?!? Why this exclusive Facebook group only? It's weird and is all sitting the wrong way with me.Post edited by Abe Froman on0

I have mixed feelings about crowdsourcing in general (and how odd that this has become a term). Same with the fundme (gofundme?) business.
