sure, WTF=what was he thinking ? like it or not the entire world is divided on gay issues so he should have thought about that when he laid one on his BF for the mediaJonnyPistachio said:Godfather, Im not sure what you mean by "about that kiss...wtf?" and "thats a career ender"
can you expand on that?
to exploit, not a good move if he want's to be picked up on a team.and title of the thread was the title of the story on CNN.
Godfather.
I skipped through an article on foxsports or espn or something like that earlier, and they made a point though that of the bazillion other players in the past that were drafted, should they have thought about kissing their wives or girlfriends, or should they have lived in the moment as a reflection of the years of hard work they put in, to make it to the highly coveted NFL and not hold back their feelings?
The guy came out before all this. Thats the point here-- he should not have to edit or manage his behavior towards his significant other.
And as far as it being "a career ender," I would think the opposite. If this team were to cut him off because of his actions that day, they'd be in almost as much trouble as the Clippers owner. But its not likely that he'll make the team anyway, so it probably doentt matter much.
I'm glad he did it. I hope he makes the team and kisses his boyfriend before and after every game.

I think his emotions were pretty evident when he got the call.
I think his kiss was genuine, from the heart, and not contrived."My brain's a good brain!"0 -
I think the fact that there are great organizations like You Can Play (youcanplayproject.org/, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You_Can_Play) shows people are trying to help career starters, not prevent them.0

i would bet there are many players, coaches & owners in the nfl that are gay. this guy here isn't the only one. many more will followfor poetry through the ceiling. ISBN: 1 4241 8840 7

Godfather.
A gay player is NOT going to make most fans hate their team.
And if they do quit following a team because of that.. fuck those close minded assholes. The game is better off without them in the stands.
^#(^ I truely hope that is not true....that would just crush me.)
Godfather.
Sir... you are quite a perplexing individual.
First off, don't take things so personally... unless you are one of those people who will drop you loyalty to a sports team because they drafted a gay man. Most fans don't give a shit. As long as he can chase down Adrian Peterson and drop him in the backfield... they don't care. The only ones that care about that shit... are the assholes in our society.... and really, who gives a fuck what they think, right?
If fans dump their team they've been rooting for because of one player... then, as an example: why didn't the Philadelphia Eagles fans drop the Eagles when they signed Michael Vick? I mean, Vick was hated by a lot of people because of that dog fighting thing. And I'm certain that there were Philly fans that didn't want Vick on their team... but, did they drop their team? No. Because the Eagles are their team and they understand Michael Vick is not the Eagles... he is just one player on the roster.
Same thing with the Rams fans. They are not going to quit rooting for the Rams, just because they drafted Sam, are they? And if there ARE Rams fans that will do that... fuck those assholes.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

Drowned Out, you're right it was not out of concern at all it was more of a " wow all that money and a dream and this could end it or slow it down".

unsung I stopped by on March 7 2024. First time in many years, had to update payment info. Hope all is well. Politicians suck. Bye. Posts: 9,487
I started focusing on politics more. I believe TV is a distraction. I prefer to get my entertainment out of physical activities rather than watch them on TV. I do like to go to games now and again but the ticket prices are too high and even though I'm fortunate to be able to afford which games I'd like to attend I rarely can justify the costs.JimmyV said:
No, but not every 7th round draft choice was a human interest story. It can be debated whether coming out helped or hurt Sam's draft prospects, but that there was more than usual public interest in those prospects cannot be debated.unsung said:I didn't watch the draft because sports no longer mean much to me but were there news cameras at every 7th round draftees home?

well man....if I were a sports fan it wouldn't matter to me if the ....guy got signed or not, I am a rock n roll fan and I don't let the fact the Elton John or Freddy Mercury(RIP) are queer stop me from enjoying their music,Cosmo said:

my view on gay's is no secrete and if a man or woman has a gift such as football or music or whatever then I wish them the best but I don't have to try and understand or support their homosexuality and I also would not attack them in any way but thats me and we are talking about fan's and how they might react and will the team support him...we'll have to wait and see.

kudos to my rams for this.
the local paper said advance orders for the michael sam jersey are off the charts.
the only people who seem to think this is an issue are old white men and a few paranoid players.
the kiss involved a gay interracial couple. surprised the tv did not explode.
there are pictures of eddie vedder and anthony keidis kissing, also cobain and krist. what difference does it make?"You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

Yes, sir... that is my point.
Why would anyone care about what other people do in the privacy of their own bedrooms, right? Only a complete asshole would worry about other folks private lives... right? I mean, what would you say to the person who wants to know about your private life? You'd tell them to fuck off and mind their own fucking business, right? And you should tell them that because, who the fuck do they think they are?
And if a 'Fan' decides to drop his support of a team because of one player... it says a lot more about the chracter (or lack thereof) of the fan, rather than the private life of the player.
All Sam has to do on the field is be a linebacker.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

sam has already won. he won by coming out as an active college player, he won by being drafted, and when he steps out on to that field in an nfl stadium he will win again. any other football related things like winning a superbowl or an individual honor like defensive player of the year would just be a bonus."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."0 -
If winning is defined even in part by those parameters, then we've all won by our own battles, our own obstacles, our own overcoming.
I give Mr Sam big kudos on his accomplishments but they're no more worthy than anyone else's.
Goes for anyone, no matter spotlight or paycheck.
We've all got a mountain or two.
(ps to GF - you might wanna check "queer" at the door, man. Might not've meant it as derogatory but it sort of is. Glad you dig Elton & Freddy though. I've had an aural love affair with Mr Mercury for awhile now. Voice as gorgeous as his soul seemed.)

It's so, so weird to me that any body kissing any body has anything to do with anything... other that two people showing affection for each other. WHY is that a problem??"It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0
