Or are you talking about the reaction on Twitter? Because, yes, that is not going to help the Miami player's career.

yes, all the media attention will create debate and that might worry the owners for possible lost tickets sales.

    Godfather.

Don't think this will affect attendance one bit. Either way.
I don't know for sure but I think as a team owner they/he are already thinking of ways to deal with the issue if it does not blow over quick.

    Godfather.

    What is the issue?
it became an issue as soon as the media picked it up and reported the tweets from fans and players.

i thought the kiss was a little over the top. didn't bother me per se just thought it was a little too much and actually a little contrived to get a reaction. i don't think i've ever seen a heterosexual couple kiss that deeply when a guy gets drafted by the NFL. and yes i do think gay marriage should definitely be legal just in case anyone wants to label me something i'm not.

We've never seen a heterosexual kiss that deeply web getting drafted because that's not a monumental event. I imagine being the first openly gay man drafted into the NFL made him a bit emotional.

It's a non-issue because he won't even make the team.

I didn't watch the draft because sports no longer mean much to me but were there news cameras at every 7th round draftees home?

No, but not every 7th round draft choice was a human interest story. It can be debated whether coming out helped or hurt Sam's draft prospects, but that there was more than usual public interest in those prospects cannot be debated.

If I may ask, why do sports no longer mean much to you?

A gay player is NOT going to make most fans hate their team.
And if they do quit following a team because of that.. fuck those close minded assholes. The game is better off without them in the stands.

  • Okay... it might just be me... but I'm lost in this thread. It seems as if everyone is coming from a different angle.

I thought GF cleared up the fact that he was referring to the Dolphins player who tweeted about the kiss... revealing his homophobia.

Can people use fewer innuendos and more direct language please?

It's only an issue for bigots that are every where that just can't come to terms that people that are gay can actually love eachother as if love should only be between a MAN& WOMAN ....No team owner would be foolish enough to outcast this player the repercussions from the public would be crazy ...I don't care who is on my team that i root for as long as you can make plays ....

sure, WTF=what was he thinking ? like it or not the entire world is divided on gay issues so he should have thought about that when he laid one on his BF for the media
to exploit, not a good move if he want's to be picked up on a team.and title of the thread was the title of the story on CNN.

wtf was he thinking? He was overwhelmed with emotion and being comforted/congratulated by the person he loves. How fucking horrible, right? Better put on an act for the cameras and just pat each other's asses like a good hetero football player, right?

Well, I don't really buy that you said 'wtf' out of concern for what will happen to this player's career due to reaction from the owner. I would infer based on your posting history that this was your thinly veiled disgust at seeing a PDA from two dudes. But if that's how you want to spin it....
The owner and team management knew he was gay, so I don't understand how a televised kiss would change anything from their point of view. It's not like he blew him.
