I didn't mind SK at the Halifax show but as with any other opening band you get impatient for them to end their set so that you can finally see the main attraction. However, the singer for SK had an amazing set of pipes which were most noticeable when they joined PJ onstage for Fortunate Son.0

Ok...so the Rolling Stones are officially coming to Halifax...I believe the date will be Sept 23. So my buddy came through again.
Me excited: "Ok...so have you heard anything about Pearl Jam"
Buddy: "Um. No."
Anyways...rumored bands on the bill are possibly The Who and Aerosmith. Wow...we'll see I guess.0 -

Yeah..he's a good connection. He told me there's a small chance another big name will be coming around..but he didn't know the name and if its associated with the Stones concert or not. Wait and see.
And...while he is a good connection. He did NOT tell me about Hillary Duff coming. So that makes him a GREAT connection! hahaha
Anyways...there's an article in the Daily News today..which is what confirmed to me that he was right...so he didn't cement the deal to me (Im going fishing with him tonight..so I will give him heck on that all night)...but he did tell me 2 weeks ago it was definite..so I can let it slide. hahah.
**Update** - I had a post in here that my buddy confirmed Aerosmith as one of the bands..but just told me that he was wrong..he doesn't think they are part of it now. But..he did say that they might be coming around anyways......so if you are a fan..never know!
See ya0 -

haven't heard anything on the q about this or news over at ticketatlantic.com0 -
The deal doesn't become officialized until this upcoming Tuesday (July 4th) so that's probably why is isn't on the Q or even on Ticketatlantic. Can you even begin to imagine how expensive ticket prices are going to be if they hae the likes of the Who or Aerosmith on the bill? Damn! Either way, I'm still there. Here's the article from the Daily News:
Stones coming to Halifax
By Dean Lisk
Move over Moncton - it's Halifax's turn to start things up. Mick and the boys are coming to town.
The Daily News has learned the Rolling Stones will be part of a large outdoor concert on the Halifax Common early this fall.
Along with the Stones, sources say, the lineup for the Sept. 23 concert might also include The Who and Aerosmith.
The concert - which would be the largest the city has yet seen - will likely take place the same day the New York Islanders and Boston Bruins play an NHL exhibition game at the Metro Centre.
Deal official on Tuesday
Halifax Regional Council is expected to ink a deal with the Stones on Tuesday. According to its meeting agenda, an in-camera session will take place to sign a contract for a "proposed major concert."
Sources say the concert will reportedly cost Halifax between $100,000 and $150,000 in security, traffic control and site-service costs.
One source indicated there is some opposition to the city spending that much money. But another source said the province may be willing to kick in as well.
The Halifax Common last hosted a large event in 1984, when Pope John Paul II visited Halifax, preaching to a crowd of 80,000.
For months, Halifax has been abuzz with rumours the rock legends would perform in Halifax. The Daily News was the first to report in April the city was courting the band's organization to bring the aging rockers to the city, after rumours circulated since a Stones concert was announced in Moncton last year.
Inquiries were made yesterday to the same promoter that organized the Stones' last Maritime concert - the Donald K. Donald Entertainment Group - but no one from its Montreal office returned our calls yesterday.
There had been some suggestions a Halifax concert would not happen. The Stones' ongoing European tour has been mired in rescheduling conflicts and cancellations after half the band could not perform. Keith Richards was out of commission after he hurt his head falling in Fiji in April, and last month, Ron Wood entered rehab.
Other Stones shows rumoured for Canada this fall include Regina, Vancouver and Windsor0 -
If the date is still September 23rd as rumoured than Aerosmith will definitely not be on the bill as they are playing a show in Camden, NJ with Motley Crue that night.
FYI: For those that are going to the Live show at the Metro Centre, the opening act is going to be Jeff Martin from The Tea Party.0 -

Still no 'Official' word on the Stones concert. I'm really only curious to see who might be coming with them as that would be the deciding factor on if I attend.0

When I saw The Stones in T.O. (Sarsstock), I believe tix were 15 bucks or something. Course, there were 475,000 people there, and getting to the can took an hour, but whaddya want for next to nothing ! I'll never forget the closed up water stand that ran out of H2O and had zillions of empty bottles around it. Walking through that was like walking through piles of leaves in the fall. Crunch, crunch, crunch. They were half way up to your knees as you waded through that area.
Someone else mentioned Jeff Martin from the Tea Party might be fronting the Stones gig. I have a somewhat funny story to tell about him. I used to work for these people who did film/TV/Commercial shit in Toronto. I was basically a grunt, moving the gear and shit around. One day, after one of the guys in the crew was getting too anal about things and getting too fancy about what he was doing, the boss stepped in and said (exasperated and scornfully): "wtf are you doing, just get it fucking done, we're not making a Tea Party video here !" Make of that what you will.......
At any rate, I never really liked Tea Party. And they certainly wouldn't be a draw for me should they get the nod for the gig. Now, if we had some Pittsburgh action goin' on, then I'd be psyched. Speaking of the boys, has anyone considered going to Europe for a show ???0 -
Jeff Martin was mentioned in regards to opening for Live not the Stones...as far as I know.0

are you paying?
i can barely afford to pay my rent these days, or even pay the $80 it takes to get to my mom's house by bus, so i don't think Europe is in my future.
Are you still thinking of going to Dublin?i. am. mine.0 -
Am I the only one wondering why the hell they aren't announcing the Stone thing officially?? I know it has been approved and all that mumbo jumbo...but it isn't really that long until the show. Plus I want to know the other bands attending. Hhahahhaha.
By the way, I hear Aerosmith dates are coming really soon..stay tuned to see if we are on the list (we, as in Atlantic Canada). Not that I really care either way, but Im sure they put on a good show.0 -

they have been dancing around it haven't they?
every day on the news they tease about it, and then it goes back to "nothing is confirmed, but..."
ayoye people!i. am. mine.0 -
Dancing around it is right. But..I suppose...even though council approved it..the numbers were far short of what the promoter wanted. So..who knows.
I asked my friend if he has heard any more names..and he hasn't. So...we wait I guess.
All American Rejects in town this weekend if anyone is interested. They don't interest me..but they are a popular band..so I thought I'd throw it out there.0
