can anyone still be defending the moves Holmgren has made over the past 3 seasons? the carter/Richards trades are going to go down as a colossal failure.

this dude is seriously like oh for a billion with his sports predictions/statements. pages 311 til 317 epitomize philly fans. not the brightest group. some here should lose their posting privileges (read the threads and it's pretty obvious...same who sound dumb in other philly sports threads. hint, they both really like college hoops)
I look forward to seeing Olympic Gold Medalist and 1 time Stanley Cup champion Jeff Carter back on Philly ice tonight. on pace for another 30 goal season. just hoping the boys can keep it going so Flyers don't have to miss another playoff season.
You do realize that Holmgren didnt trade Carter to Philly, right?
He whined and moaned his way out of Columbus to get a trade to be reunited with his "bud" Richards.

LA is winning the cup that year, with or without Carter and Richards. That Run of theirs was All Quick, Dustin Brown and Defense. Simple as that.

we went through this before. he was tied for the most goals for the Kings in that playoff run. I think the leading goal scorer of a Cup champion surely was an important piece of the puzzle. only in philly could we put down a Cup champion's leading goal scorer during the run. simple as that.

anyway this Flyers team is playing great. need to keep it up though as margin of error is still pretty low. a non-playoff year again is a disaster anyway you look at it.

Sure, he was tied Kopitar and Brown with 8 Goals that playoff run. They both had 20 Pts, to his 13.
Doesnt change the fact that Quick played lights out that entire playoffs, no one was beating them. Especially with Doughty on the blue line.

Both those trades have turned out very well for the Flyers.

As a Kings fan I have to tell you that we dont make the playoffs in 2012 w/o Richards and possibly without making that trade for Carter to be on the team the last 15-20 games.
We were in the 8th and final playoff spot.
I think the both contributed a lot in the playoffs and as much as it looks like Carter is a much better player for the Kings now I would argue that Richards' 2-way play in the playoffs made him one of the most important skaters.
Most important guy was obviously Quick and Brown was a man possessed.

Turned out as a good trade for both clubs....look forward to going to the game tonight, going to be fun. Kings have been playing pretty well but Flyers have been out of their friggin minds so it is going to be a tough matchup!

I'll never understand why this team doesnt show up for certain big games. Pretty abysmal effort.

I'd like to see what happened before the slash... anyway it happens all the time, remember Adam Graves?

Nice racist tweet by some Rags fan last night:

@KyleManger24: @Simmonds17 go slash a banana instead. d0uche” and I'm the classes one

So the games against the pens, blues, and Blackhawks weren't big games? Yeah this game they fell flat but this year I think they have stepped up when needed overall.

I said "certain" and yes, this Ranger game was a bigger game than a regular season tilt versus Chicago or St. Louis. The standings clearly tell the story.

Regardless, we have 2 games in hand on NY, can easily make up the points. I read somewhere that we only need like 10 more points in the next 10 games or so to pretty much lock up a playoff spot. Although the Rangers remaining schedule is much easier than ours.

Good win. The addition of Macdonald on this team has made Schenn a much better player. Needs to be resigned.

Tough next 4 games. Bruins, Blues, BJ's and Bruins again.

Rags lost last night, 1 point behind them with 2 games in hand.
