I was at that show! Third row (person) center. Show #4 of 8 for me. Band was great but the crowd sucked. Set was short too.severed hand thirteen2006: Gorge 7/23 2008: Hartford 6/27 Beacon 7/1 2009: Spectrum 10/30-31

Some scattered thoughts here.....
Lightning Bolt is better than Circuital. But Z and It Still Moves are right up there with PJ's best stuff.
I was talking to a friend the other night, who's a big Phish, Furthur, WSP fan, about long songs. We agreed that while we don't necessarily mind the 20+ minute version of songs, at the end, it may mean you miss 3-4 other songs that could have been played. But in the moment, when your face is being melted, it doesn't seem to matter
It's a shame that MMJ may be at their peak, because I still think they are criminally underrated and unknown. I feel like a lot of people have no idea who they are. Christ, Jim played a solo show here in Portland this summer and there were about 150 people there.0 -

(none as opener for PJ, which I think will skew results here)
Ok, finally got around to figuring this out... 14 times!
First proper show, 6/20/08 at Radio City! What a first show!
12/31/08 -MSG NYE
10/19-22/10 - T3 -It Still Moves/Z/Evil Urges
12/14/11 - MSG
7/28/12 - Newport
8/19/12 - Brooklyn
12/27-29/12 - Port Chester
12/31/12 -Boston
1/2/13 - Asbury Park Show for Sandy
7/26/13 - Hoboken Americanarama
So pretty much not a stinker in the bunch!
Also, I could have seen them open up for Foo Fighters at Hammerstein Ballroom in July 2003, but I had never heard of them, so I stayed at the bar across the street to drink (regret!)
And I only went in to see them open for PJ once in 2006 (Hartford).
But we're going to Mexico!"McCready played on, lending credence to the theory that he was actually built in Stone’s basement from spare truck parts and vinyl records." - Glide Mag. review of MSG 7/8/030 -

if there is any band that deserves to be huge, it is mmj. but still kinda cool that they've remained under the radar, for the most part, for as long as they have.
in my opinion, this is the best band in the world at the moment. --after pearl jam, of course! of course! i'm always amazed at how many people are not familiar with them.www.myspace.com0 -

No idea. I haven't been paying ultra close attention so maybe someone else knows. I would think maybe an early summer release at the earliest and then a nice long tour.'08- Camden 1-2 '09- Chicago 2; Spectrum 1-4

Definitely late to this party, but I've been listening to a lot of live MMJ lately. I admit, I haven't really listened to them much and special thanks to derbydave for starting to get me listening to them.
First song I listened to was Steam Engine from the OKONOKOS show. Wow, how I've missed this band for this long is beyond me. Currently starting off by listening to this show and the Red Rocks show from 2012.

Glad to hear that you are liking MMJ...Steam Engine is AMAZING live and still one of my FAVES!
They did a 28 minute version of Steam Engine as their final encore here in Columbus in 2012 that just blew me away!!!
Check out the live versions of Xmas Curtain & Dondante videos next!!
I've been STUCK on the Port Chester boots the last few days...been kind of slow at work, so I can make it thru ALL 3 shows in one day!!!
A little bummed I won't be able to make it down to Mexico for "One Big Holiday"
I'll bet they break out some tunes from the new album there!!
Here's hoping we get a SPRING tour kicking off in Louisville around DERBY TIME!!!
