    hitchhiker is great!

the "YOU'RE COOL" line KILLS me. ugh.

i've been meaning to edit the track listing on my ipod for this album to delete the songs i can't stand and rearrange the ones i do like. there are obviously some standouts, but obviously some gigantic clunkers that just cannot be taken seriously and you have to assume the band was just fucking around in the studio with a couple tracks.
    Isnt it "You fool"?

Hmm, I think it is a matter of opinion. ;) I don't like either one of them. They bore the shit out of me.

    fact!
 :nono: They're lame songs!!!

It was certainly never meant to be anything other than what it is. A collection of b-sides. But why not put Leatherman on there??
I love all of them except Sweet Lew and Brother.
I'm glad that Leatherman was left off, I'd rather have a 4th LP of Lady Gaga added in than to have that stupid song on there.

    Isnt it "You fool"?

the beginning starts off with "you fool" and then half way through there is a "you're cool".

almost forgot about the "YOU FOOL". what a terrible song

  • If I could cherry pick 10 songs from both records it would be much, much better.

Exactly. While the typical PJ album has a few songs that I connect less with, generally speaking I connect well with all of it. On Lost Dogs, there are a number of songs I just flat-out don't like. There are also some real winners for me personally. That is probably to be expected on a compilation of rarities and B-sides.

I do agree, regardless of lyrics, Hitchhiker is a weak point amidst LD.

I love the start of All Night/Sad/Down/Hitchhiker and I've really started to enjoy Education.

I think I'm alone but I've never dug Wash, I've largely ignored it over the years.
All my favourite singers have stolen all of my best lines.
  • Lost Dogs is great except for the rerecorded stuff. The stuff that was "brand new" at the time like Education, Hitchhiker, Sad, In The Moonlight, etc. are great but I just don't get why they'd rerecord stuff like Alone and Hard To Imagine. The originals were fine.

Leatherman is conspicuous by it's absence. Always found that odd.

Great list, but still missing some of my faves from Lost Dogs.... Some of them are quirkier songs, which is why I think they didn't make it to albums. I.e. Black,Red, Yellow, Down, Other Side, Education, In the Moonlight, HItchhiker.... For me, these are 'weirder' songs, which appeals to me a lot, but they aren't usually great for albums (beside Vitalogy, apparently).

Great song, I love it! 8-)

You fool, dude what do what you think you're doing?
So you're lost, my problem, that's not
Conductor says, 'off of my train'
We understood, guest/host relationships ain't my thing
Even if I could, you ain't the kind of person I would help anyway
    I'm about to explode
Cuz I can't carry your load
    Hitchhiker... go, hitchhiker

You're cool, and cold in your calculations
We're friends, only because of my situation
    I'm about to unload
Cuz I can't carry your load
    Hitchhiker... go, hitchhiker

    Hitchhiker...
So be gone, too soon is too late
    I don't want no delay
So be gone, get your food off someone else's plate
    Go tell all your friends
I'm an idiot and you're great
    Hitchhiker... hitchhiker...
    Now go, hitchhiker... go, hitchhiker
