It's right there with Lightning Bolt, I'm going to give a slight edge to LB for now
I agree with this whole post except for giving the slight edge to LB...this tune WILL kill live and is better than LB...there...I said it...it reminds me of GTF...it builds like a wave...and then crashes
I met my wife here...you can too! Don't lose hope!
actually came to the forum this morning to post the same thing. I didnt get it at all until about 7 or 8 listens through the album. Finally this morning i connected with it. really hope to hear it live! Swallowed Whole & Yellow Moon are the first two sleepers for me personally so far ....that initially i didnt think much of but are quickly becoming my favorites.

I love it, one of my favorites if not *the* favorite for me off of this album. It... you know, I have a hard time describing how songs sound to me, since I lack the musical knowledge that so many people on here seem to have. But, to me, this has an old-school, jangly, raw, feel to it, and I am partial to songs like that.
I also think this will be an excellent song to run to.
All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.
Agreed!! It took me about 10 listens after the first leak to prefer it over Getaway but yeah this is the one.
Can't wait to hear it live.
Agreed, love at first leak... listen! I mean, love at first listen! along with Let The Records Play... still feel the same about Getaway and Lightning Bolt, but Getaway is a great opener, this one will kill live! People will go nuts with Getaway and Swallowed Whole!
... I am not in the business of being liked anymore ...
Burned a non-PJ (but huge music fan) fan a copy of the stream for him to listen. This guy "loves Eddie Vedder" but just can't get into Pearl Jam for some reason...though he likes a lot of their albums. He is 63 years old by the way. Loves The Beatles and The Who, but is a huge music fan overall - dude is a genius when it comes to music history.
He gave me his review tonight.
"The album is solid, but the best song is track #8 - that is just a great song."
Figured he would have really liked LTRP as he is a huge blues fan.
That's saying something. I honestly don't see (hear) it yet. I like Swallowed Whole, but it's middle of the pack for me right now.

I've listened to the album through a few times now and swallowed whole has been repeated close to 50 times! I don't know what it is but it sounds so familiar, as if it's been around for years. Very Who/REM-esque.
After several listens to LB many of the songs are really growing on me, however from the first listen I thought Swallowed Whole was going to be one of those great live songs. The more I hear it the more it reinforces this. Many other songs should do well live too, but this was the first one that seemed obvious to me.
A standout track for me, too. I agree with the into the Wild similarities, and that's what I like about it the most. It has a nice energy to it and it will probably become a fan singalong at upcoming/future shows.

Well, this whole album is creeping up on me in so many different ways. For awhile, I didnt really like Father's Son, Yellow Moon, or Swallowed Whole. In fact, I really disliked Swallowed Whole. Now I fucking love it. Damn it, these songs are sneaky.
The second half of Swallowed Whole is so badass the way the intensity grows ever-so-slightly.
But unfortunately, I lose interest in Infallible very quickly now.

Quickly...The Pete influence is STRONG, (think You better You better You bet...at the beginning...) and I frickin' dig it.
That guitar solo, and the 2 "oh yeahs" in the bridge...Amazing.
It's been on repeat for a while now...
