    It's the sleeper.

    Could potentially kill live.

It's slightly better then Lightning Bolt too.

    discuss!!

i hate to be a debbie downer, but the only thing i like about this song is the solo.
it sounds like it was an into the wild track that didn't make the cut.

but i have no doubt other fans will think it is EPIC!
did you see me? i saw you.

LOVE this tune and it totally KILLS live!! One of my fav new ones on the recent leg. Also can't believe the amount of lyrics...how does Ed pull it off?
Those of you who haven't seen it live, be prepared, its ROCKIN live!

I could see Ed having a hard time remembering all of the lyrics with how fast the verses go by?

I love this song , its going in my favorite of all vault and Im locking it away with the others . Its a build up , graduation or a progression type thing into something more each verse until its in your face like blam and back to a whisper for last words and its so Ed to me its crazy . I find it a song about positive forces and human want and wish but I could be wrong , the great thing is that we all perceive songs like this different and the writer is brilliant enough to know this . Anyway , was so excited to see people digging it like me !!! 8-)

I like the song, I haven't heard it live yet to see where it settles, but I do know that for the last 5 months it has been a life saver everytime I babysit my nieces. This song is the only thing that tames the youngest one and allows me to get her to sleep. She loves it.

Right on! They played it in Charlottesville and it was sick! Ed was so into it and had such a nice groove strumming...fit it in right between I Am Mine and Faithfull...pretty killer. Such an empowering song that builds so much momentum...I love the way it makes me feel:) Definitely one of my favs on new album...tho I love them all. Great Album...I think it is very underrated actually.

It's an ok song at best (except for the solo). It would fit better in an EV solo CD. In no way shape or form is it better than lightning bolt.

Studio it's better than Lightning Bolt, but once LB hits the live scene it changes and becomes great.

I really like this song a lot. Haven't heard it live, and LB is WAY better live than on the album, but I think SW is better on the album.... Wouldn't expect it to out do LB at a show though.

I think Swallowed Whole might be the worst song on the record. It's also a momentum killer live.

Lightning Bolt, however, is amazing live. Probably the most fun I had at every show last year.

I thought Swallowed Whole was just a so-so kind of song when Lightning Bolt was first released, but it has grown on me a lot since then. Now I love it, and like to play it loud, loud, loud, loud

This wasn't one of my favorite songs on LB, but it's really grown on me. I love the live version on the Buffalo boot.

I think it's just a decent song, not bad, but not that good if you ask me.. the music is very generic, I remember the first time I heard the intro when I was listening LB for the first time ever.. I thought "Eddie, you've used this D chord riff so many times.. enough with it".. you can hear it in the betterman tag or in the long road outro, in swallowed whole it's just played in a specific rhythm.. I like the chords of the chorus, and the solo is excellent, but that's it..
plus, live, Ed screws the lyric so bad..
