    devastating news to report....gracie's lymphoma is back :cry::cry:

    we went to the vet yesterday and our fears were confirmed. we decided to do one round of a "rescue protocol" chemo and take whatever time we can get with our sweet girl. her last remission was 7 months....this one will probably be one or two or three :cry:

    our poor girl has been through so much....two major surgeries to remove mast cell tumors and a fifth of her life getting chemotherapy....and now she's getting more. I think I was kind of in denial about the reality of this and/or thought she would be one of the <10% to survive lymphoma. alas, it was not meant to be.

    through it all, gracie has been a trooper and she is still a very happy girl. thank goodness she doesn't know what we do. after the vet yesterday, I took her to home depot...her favorite store. a guy said he had treats but couldn't find them. as he dug thru a lower cabinet, gracie was right there with him...her head in the cabinet and her tail going 90 miles per hour :lol: . after that, we went to have a few beers on an outdoor patio and she made some more friends. a little girl petted her and said,"hey mom, she's softer than our dog!" :mrgreen:

    some of you may remember dcfaithful (aka little dave) from this board. not to long ago he and I and a friend of his were discussing our dogs. dc said that gracie was "THE sweetest" dog he had ever met. it would be tough to argue otherwise. we are going to enjoy every day we have left with her.

    dave is right...she is the sweetest dog i've ever met...and i am so glad i got a chance to meet her and have norm sniff her butt :)

    But in true SENROCK fashion......I have to give you some positivity and say....that everything happens for a reason. Gracie crawled into yours and Codie's lives when you needed her. She brought so much joy and healing after losing Shelby. She was also a HUGE help to me as well on here after losing Surfer. That little girl has been a LOT of smiles, comfort, laughs, to a lot of people here. She served her purpose and you cant deny that! :) There is something special about her and we knew that from day one. I'm hoping for a miraculous healing for her and that her sickness disappears! If it does not, like I said, she has done her job :D Please give her constant hugs from me every hour! :D And let her have as many treats as she wants! :lol: Big hugs to you my friend.

    Im so sorry for your news Rob. :( :(

    Gracie has been so loved, all around the globe! She has given you and your family and all of us here following her great happiness in her time. You've proven to be a great doggie dad, giving lots of trips to the dog park, love and treats all along the way. I know you will do what needs to be done to make sure that Gracie spends every last second the happiest dog on the planet.

    wow, guys :shock: . I'm really moved by all of this.

    I kind of agree with Sen....gracie was here for a reason.....and a big one was to get ME thru cancer. She was there for me every day

    Sorry to hear this Rob and Codie.

    My heart goes out to you along with all of the other well wishes from folks across the globe. Some people just dont understand the fibers of our lives are intertwined with those of our pets. They make us who we are and on so many levels, a better person. I get it, and everyone else here does also, so you must know how deeply we feel, even if some of us have difficulty in crafting those 'words'.
