so small bit of good news. all is going well with igby, to the point that his oncologist (i STILL cannot get over the fact that one of our DOGs has an oncologist!) wants to try reducing his chemo meds dosage, in the hopes of weaning him completely off them. of course, if that happens we will need to monitor him VERY closely to make sure new tumors do not develop, but man, would be awesome! awesome for ig of course, but truly, awesome for our wallet. realize he's been on chemo meds for a year, to the tune of $500/month, not including food/treats/regular vet visits, etc. not exactly a walk in the park, especially while i am unemployed. also, discovered he cracked a back molar while i was brushing his teeth sunday - thankfully the vet was able to simply break off the chipped piece, prescribe some antibiotics, and only charge $56! whew! let's hope it all works!Stay with me...

decides2dream, I hope your pup Igby is ok. It's a shame that the treatment is so expensive, going to the vet never seems to be affordable!
My dog Tilly got herself into trouble last week, resulting in a trip to the vet! When I was at work, my brother had her in the front yard (something I am forever telling everybody in my family not to do, because she is an impulsive little bugger). Tilly heard one of my neighbour's dog bark and took off into their front yard, to find their bulldog chained up. The dog tried to sniff her and she curled her lip, and then the bulldog grabbed her neck. She is one lucky dog...it took my brother and my dad to stop the bulldog and they ended up hosing water up the bulldog's nose for a good minute to get it to let go of my dog. This dog would easily be triple the size of my dog, so she is extremely lucky to have not been killed by him, it could have been so much worse :(. She's on antibiotics, prescribed cream and I have to wash it with antiseptic daily, but it has healed very quickly.PJ: Sydney, 11th February 2003 ♥ Sydney, 26th January 2014 ♥ EV: Sydney, 20th March 2011 ♥ EV: Perth, 7th February 2014 ♥ EV: Perth, 8th February 2014 ♥ EV: Sydney, 11th February 2014 ♥ EV: Sydney, 12th February 2014 ♥ EV: Sydney, 13th February 2014 ♥ EV: Brisbane, 22nd February 2014 ♥ EV: Brisbane, 23rd February 2014 ♥ EV: Brisbane, 25th February 2014 ♥

Happy Halloween everybody. We try to be safe with our pets every year (we keep our two black cats inside, for example) and try to keep Brian the dog away from chocolate.
However... we weren't expecting this. Yesterday my husband was carving small pumpkins that he usually hangs on our front porch. They look great - super easy, you cut from the bottom and use a drill to make the holes. So he had three little pumpkins outside, cut out with the pumpkin guts on the ground and he went in the house. Came out and there were only TWO pumpkins. No pumpkin guts.
But there was Brian, looking very very guilty. So we guess he ate one of the pumpkins. No sign of it anywhere. He seems very healthy and happy today (he loves pumpkin from a can). Whoops.0 -
