ANY OTHER COUNTRIES DO ANYTHING??

I think quite a lot of them arent acting out of arrogance thinking they need to butt their noses in everybody elses business. Like they were the be all and all of how to operate in the world.

you kidding right? you dont have a clue whats going on in the area..what UN does there and which countries has troops in the area..i had 2 relatives are at Greek Army serving there till recently..
im amased you guys think only USA "help others on the planet..or be in peace forces,or sent food to poor countries..
i guess,alot never travel anywhere or watch-read anything different than American news..

like someone said, countries help out anonymously.

i myself do not believe the usa is the only country that aids other countries that are falling apart. i do believe though that a shit ton of other countries could start helping in all kinds of ways. i also believe i for one would enjoy hearing about countries that help out. i have no television so i rely on the internet, word of mouth & radio news

My daughter studied International Relations in college. Her dream all through high school and college was to go to the Peace Corp in Africa and help educate the people about AIDS. It is a long process (2 years) to get accepted into the Peace Corp. She was accepted and at 22 years old got on a plane to Zambia, Africa. Guess what? She was not welcomed there!!! A very long story but after 6 months she came home. It took a very long time for her to recover from that. She was very idealistic and wanted to make a difference. Now she is a special education teacher and is making a difference in her own country helping children. She thinks the Peace Corp went about this education to the villages in Zambia the wrong way. Americans did not understand their culture and did not understand that these people did not want to be told what to do.
I feel very sorry for those suffering in Syria, but am not so certain that we are going about it the right way. Why can't we be patient and wait for the UN to handle this situation? Isn't that the purpose of the UN? People in other countries do not like us, because we push our ideals onto them. Meanwhile, we have our own problems in our own country. We did not learn anything from Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. We just keep making the same mistakes. And young lives are being sacrificed as well. Karma will get us in the end.

in 2 paragraphs you just said it all..this is exactly the situation,this is exactly how the rest of the world thinks
i was talking today with co-workers about the Syria situation,we are close to the area,and in Airforce,so all this will affect our alarm here,and our readiness..
and a guy i work with said.."who the fuck gave the Americans the right to play it the worldpeacemaker,to be the superheros?
they should fuckin stay home and leave Syria deal alone with their problems..and deal with their own problem,like stoping lunitics from killing small childern at their schools.."

and im sorry about what happen to your daughter and her dream didnt come true,cos she pay the price just to be American citizen...

Thanks Dimitris- My daughter has figured out the mistakes the US has made and is happy helping others here in the US> We have made many mistakes as a country. As a US citizen there are things I am proud about. But I do not think we have a right to intervene in everyone's civil wars. The UN needs to handle this. People in our country need to educate themselves about other cultures because we have become a global world, but that does not mean that everyone needs to become a democracy. Democracy does not work for every culture. We need to mind our own business.
I agree with you that we need to figure out why lunatics are busting into our schools and killing our children. I am a teacher and I constantly think about what I would do if someone busted in my classroom with a gun. Sadly, I have had this conversation with my students, they are high school children and we all agree that we would not go down without a fight. It is extremely sad that we have had to devise a plan as to what we would do.

i don't think giving a hoot about fellow humans & trying to help medically or food & shelter wise is arrogance butting its nose into others' business

buddy,i can assure you F-18 and F-22 does not throw food or medicine

i know what fighter jets are. you're the one in the greek air force, yes/no? you know more about the military than i ever will. with that said, a decent & caring government can deliver medical supplies, food supplies & fresh clean water & other things in nature to these supplies listed without using f-18s & without using f-22s

one could use cargo planes like a c-17 globemaster III



but i think they wanna dump hum-vees, troops & bullshit like this & not flowers & get well soon cards
