Apparently I'm paying Emmelene Victoria for this print...

By the way, Dabs or Myla (whichever one is the girl) looks pretty damn cute!

Had to ask the seller a question on his auction:

    Dear vinyl_seller_76,

If you're going to rip someone off you might as well tell them the whole description. Like they only signed even ones. Figured it would help you rip off some fellow PJ Forum member. :)

    - supernaut1125

Who are they ripping off? I'm pretty sure whoever buys it knows exactly what they're paying for. Or is it the artists you're standing up for? Because I'm also sure they are well aware of the secondary market of their posters. I'll never understand why people get so fired up about this issue. To me, it's simple supply and demand. Its a part of life. I'm not trying to get into an argument or debate about it, just giving my humble opinion.

    agreed.
I don't have the energy to be angry with everyone who buys things they think they can sell for a profit.

I realize I am in the minority here - but i am okay with that as well.

Yup. It's a moot point... I would never flip anything to fellow 10clubbers and most of the time not in general. But prices of posters (non PJ) are blown up bc flippers and the only way people can afford these is to flip other prints and gather up some money for something they want.

I just sold a ton of posters I've had for a little while in order to lock up some huge ISO's of mine. Flippers make the world go round if you agree with it or not. Personally I don't think the 10c is a place to flip but if someone wants to it doesn't bother me. The artist will only benefit in the long run bc the AP's they keep they can sell for double when they decide to do so. It doesn't hurt anyone... If you really want something just save up for it and buy it.

I live closest to Chicago for a large venue and I will openly call scalpers and poster flippers scum. Chicago has got to be one of the worst cities for scalping and it disgusts me. No, they aren't trafficing babies, but they are inflating ticket and poster prices. That alone should bother you as a fan, especially after all the bs with the ticket presale. If people weren't always scalping to put food on their tables, I or you could have been sitting on the field for Wrigley. Instead of the corner of the entire staduium in the 3rd deck...

Dude, it's the way it's always been and the way it always will be. The only reason flippers/scalpers exist is because there are obviously people willing to pay the inflated prices.

BTW, I've always wanted a '67 Shelby Cobra but can't find one for less than about a mil. They were under $5k when they were sold new, but the scumbag flippers have completely inflated the market. So unfair.

  • If you think about it, the artists definitely could charge more for their PJ posters. There are fans out there that will pay more for them as evidenced by what people are paying on the 2ndary market. That said, I give the artist's credit for keeping their prices reasonable so a lot more fans can afford them. Does that increase the chance they will be flipped?...absolutely. But does it also give the average guy a chance to pay an affordable price for the poster?....absolutely. It's a double edged sword.

I agree with all of that and I've even said the same thing before.

What I wonder sometimes is why they don't make more of these high demand posters. I understand supply & demand, overhead, and keeping the value of the poster up for the artists. I know that no matter how many are made there will still be some that miss out, but just not as many will miss out. I know each artist are not going to make 10K copies and have a boatload on a shelf somewhere. I also understand the argument that if the market is flooded, the artist might not be able to charge as much.

I was just thinking that, in this case, each artist could have had 200, or 500 for that matter and still sold out, still sold for $95, and more fans could have got 1 on the original sale.

I don't know. Insert your own number. What do think of the run size? Do you think they show sell non S/N also?

I agree 100% on this, expand the run, make it like 400 poster, more people will be happy that way.

or do an open sale. Dont print anything and have a 24 hour window or something where people can pre pay. After the window closes, you know exactly how many to get printed and then everyone wins

This is the only other method that would work. Because if you make 5,000 then there will be no sense of urgency to buy. And that means the printing company and artist don't see the money as fast. I imagine that plays a big part.

I tried for the Munk One and had it in my cart. Paypal confirmation issues blah blah blah. Fired off an email stating this problem and to see if they'd confirm an order for me. Have 4 $1 pending transactions on the credit card and explained that when I backed out of it all to try over, it told me I reached the household limit. All things point to me having made the purchase, but nope. They never received my order.

I can deal with high demand items and getting shut out. The frustrating part is when these BUSINESSES have shitty practices in place. How the hell does paypal basically crash? How can something be in a cart and in the process of being purchased and then simply removed??

It's like paying cash for something at a retail store. You give them half the money while fumbling for the last $10 bucks and have the merchandise in your hand and then the store says "nope, and give it back to us". :nono:

Hopefully the 10C can sell these too, and I'm online within 5 mins of them posting about it.

    Here's a good one!

I was unable to be on the computer during this poster on sale so I asked the wife to try for me.
I walked her thru the whole process on Munk One's site with written instructions for each screen.
She texts me about 10min after the sale to let me know she was able to get one. I recently looked
at the email invoice and she bought the 311 poster! Lucky me! I guess that's what I get for including
other's in my poster nonsense. Fortunately Munk One just gave me a refund! Unfortunately now I'm
empty handed, I guess it's onto the secondary market.

Love this idea! I don't buy posters because they might be worth a lot, I buy them because they mean something to me. I was a nervous wreck for an hour today, couldn't imagine flipping it after that amount of emotional investment!
