This one is special to me as it marked my first Pearl Jam show. Not only that, but I was able to see their biggest influence, Ole Uncle Neil as part of the same bill. The DAR hall wasn't very big and the sound was insane. I was 19 and there were a lot of rock vets going nuts for Neil which was so fun to see. L7 rocked too and I remember the female bassist walking topless around the entire pit and up the center row! PJ blew me away and I floated on out onto the national mall and under the Washington Monument obelisk in awe of what I'd just seen. My buddy who I'd driven with down from Ohio was just as stunned as me at how cool they were. I didn't get this poster but I still have the T-shirt with the masks logo on the left side of this poster. And it's funny because I just wore it the other day and had never noticed that on the dedication info on the back, on the bottom of all of that is the word "avocado"!

This one's my fave, St. Paul 2003. To me, it just captures some of the nostalgia around growing up in the Midwest - the frigid winters, the goofy Uncles and Grandfathers, the plaid, the wood, ice-fishing... a little bit nature, a little bit weird.
I was raised in Wisconsin, and have fond memories of growing up where I did. This poster reminds me of small town living, visits to my grandparents farm, the local-yokels in the community. I think the simplicity of the colors and image drew me to this one. I have this hanging in our hall at home and look at it nearly every day, and my appreciation for it has grown since obtaining it at the St. Paul show in '03.
One negative of the poster though - my 3 year old nephew is terrified of it! He says it's creepy and makes my girlfriend and I take it down every time he comes over

We had to miss this show & it was pretty hard to take. Tough times back then. I did get the poster because I love it & when things were better it became a talisman of making it through those tough times with my husband.
