So is Seattle 2 a pipe dream?

People said the second Europe shows last year were announced weeks after the original announcements. And someone on fb said they have to clear one obstacle before they can announce it. I don't know if that is true, but yeah, I'm staying positivePlease, Pearl Jam, consider a Benaroya Hall vinyl reissue! http://community.pearljam.com/discussion/148993/please-pearl-jam-consider-a-vinyl-benaroya-hall-re-issue0

Me too! Even though I haven't booked my flight back from Seattle to Halifax yet which is pretty much my last to do booking for the ... "Ultimate Pacific Northwest PJ Experience!"
I don't mind the long dramatic pause! I mean wait, for Seattle Night 2!0 -

Yes - I've been saying that Berlin 2 and Prague were added THREE weeks after the tour was announced and on sale.
That makes me feel a little better. Everything doesn't always happe at once.
I've said before, they are likely waiting to announce it to sell more tickets to surrounding shows, Portland, Spokane, Vancouver etc.
Have some faiththis really can happen.

i'm trying to stay optimistic...
but at this point who knows? the tour was announced a month ago
a lil pratical thought comes in handy altho it's discouraging. benaroya shows it's booked on Saturday Dec 7th...makes sense a symphony hall would be. as for White River amphitheater? or Magnuson Park? it might be safe to say they won't be playing outside in early Dec when the weather is at it's most craptastic*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

When are we going to admit that Eddie just hates the Seattle crowd? 2010 Vancouver show? He out right said that the crowd in Seattle sucked. And they even did not do PJ20 in their home town? ..... Just a thoughtThere's alot to be said for Nowhere0

Well, a Seattle show is on my bucket list and I'll be there on the 6th so I hope the crowd doesn't suck.0

2011 Vancouver*
But yes, you are right, Ed doesn't express too many positive things about the Seattle crowds at Pearl Jam shows, makes sense though. Being someone who has been in many Seattle crowds at various, I would agree that there is not a lot of passion shown. And that goes for just about anything short of a Seahawks game (the stadium's architecture helps amplify the crowd quite a bit). The crowd gets mad at you for showing passion or energy to interrupt "their enjoyment of the show". In Vancouver I could tell that Ed was quite annoyed at the amount of stiffs that were in the front rows (good chance some of them were from Seattle), which is probably why Pearl Jam has changed it so there is a GA section in the front.
A few notes though...
1. A good amount of people at Seattle shows are from out of town. They want to do the whole Seattle tourist thing while seeing their favorite band in their hometown, understandable. So you can't completely blame the natives for the shit crowd (I know, kind of contradicts my earlier statement). When I saw Ed solo at Benaroya Hall, he was praising and thanking the crowd, and looked genuinely grateful for the opportunity at the end of the show. Of course, it is a completely different situation, but I don't think Ed completely hates Seattle crowds.
2. Last time they announced two shows in Seattle in 2009, I don't think either of them sold out. Maybe Seattle 1 sold out but from what I could remember there were still upper deck seats available months later at least for the second show. For whatever reason the band front loaded all of the crowd pleasing songs into Seattle 1, so Seattle 2 had mostly deep cuts, good setlist, but not many "mainstream" songs and probably the shortest Porch solo I've ever heard. This could explain a lack of passion in the crowd for that show. This could explain why they would prefer to just have 1 sell out and play a completely kick ass show, kind of like they did in Vancouver 2 years ago.
3. It was a little annoying that they had PJ20 in the middle of Wisconsin rather than their hometown or state, but I could understand them wanting to do it in the middle of America so it can easily be accessed by their east coast and midwest fans. What I believe they should've done is an Alpine Valley weekend followed by a weekend at the Gorge, that way they have the East Coast/Midwest covered in one weekend and the West Coast covered in the next weekend.Member Number: 437xxx

I thought the '09 shows were pretty much sellouts by the time the concert actually happened. I don't recall there being many empty seats. One thing I'll add to your comments on the shows themselves. The encores seemed very similar on both nights. That's kind of the point where you launch the concert to stratosphere and night 2 started so good, then the encore was rather meh. For seattle shows I think you have a very seasoned audience. I think PJ has to try a little harder. You read about some of the wicked shows/setlists/ideas the PJ does on the east coast and you want them to try that hard in Seattle. Gorge '05 is still the best Seattle area show I've ever seen (best show i've seen period) and they really tried at that one. Acoustic opening set and a really interesting setlist front to back.
I'm a bit interested to see how GA livens up the atmosphere. I saw 3 shows in 09. Calgary & Seattle I and II. Calgary was a GA festival without 10c tickets. The energy was off the charts. I felt like I'd gone back in time 15 years. The Calgary show was drastically better than the two Seattle shows.
I'm still hoping for a 2nd show though.. the 2nd one's always seem better than night #1.0 -
