Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts. Mr Harley, the prodigal has returned. He was picked up 4 blocks away by animal control last night, and spent an eventful night in doggy jail. He was given 3 different vaccinations, even though he was current. When we got there he was out in the sun and by the time we got to take him home he was tired and overheated. He is resting as I type after a dose of herbal detox. The boys were thrilled to see him and he was overjoyed to leave the building. The cool thing is that I saw a dog on the humane society website and then saw an ad on craigslist of a dog matching that description. I emailed the ad poster and met her going into the humane society as we were leaving. She thanked me and now I see her ad for her missing 5 yo family pet is down. 2 doggies home again! Thanks again for the moral support. :D

great news, other then all those vaccinations...

The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

gracie had a really fun day yeaterday....first, we went to the park and she saw her boyfriend sasha for the first time in like six weeks. gracie was running, rolling, chewing sticks and just generally having fun

then, later, she went out drinking with mom and dad. gracie had never done the patio scene in SLC and she was a big hit with everyone.

after 3 hours, she was ready to head home

with all the chemo and pain she's had to endure, we sometimes questioned wheter we were doing the right thing. yesterday reinforced that it's all good....she is a happy girl

So, as usual, I've been out of the loop. 2 jobs and full time school, keeping me under a rock I guess!
Wandered over here this morning before class to stumble upon the news of Gracie (like 30 pages back!)

I'm so sorry to hear this! Poor Gracie, that girl has had some bad luck. But she looks amazing and happy, I hope she stays strong :( :(

But...I know she is in good hands :-)

Back in February I took in this sweetie pie, Maddy. She was my brother's dog for nine years until he adopted two pitbulls. One of his pitbulls is sweet as sugar! The other is a huge damn jerk and kept attacking Maddy, so I took her in.

She's about 11 years old now, so she spends most of her days in retirement either taking up my entire full-size bed, or walking around the lake with me:

I'm sure she misses her daddy, but I hope she is happy!

I bet your happy living with your auntie, too. :D

Which lake do you walk Maddy by? White Rock?

She's the hammy kind! ;):) She loves some attention.

My brother thinks that because she has a blue tongue she's Rottweiler/Chow. I think because of her shape she's Australian Cattle Dog/Rottweiler.

Penny has had a skin infection that made her scratch a lot. The vet gave her some medicine, which has helped, and he also said to bathe her with oatmeal shampoo. I decided I'd just take her to the pet spa for a bath. Then I might as well get Django bathed too. So everybody went off to the spa this morning.

When I went to get them, wow! Their fur was all foofed out and they looked beautiful! I couldn't wait to take pictures of them.

Well, apparently going to the spa is very tiring so they just slept all afternoon.

Finally got a few pics this evening. They are less foofy than when they got home. Still not very energetic although that's partly because of the heat.

They are gorgeous!! Stress causes them to wear out! They get all weirded out by "new" people.. Come home sleep.
Next time, if you want to get a really good after salon pic, take them for a brisk walk. This relieves the stress, comforts them, and rejuvenates them! They are cuties though!

Thanks for the advice! I underestimated what a big deal this would be for them. The spa/pet resort is owned by my vet and adjoins his clinic. They have boarded there before with no problems at all and know the staff so I thought they would be OK. But usually dad bathes them and plays with them afterwards so they don't mind getting baths at home.

We were so busy and this seemed so convenient that I was thinking about doing it again. If I do, I'll plan better.

    I don't think they're foofy, I think they're amazing. Fluffy.

And Gracie looks happy - she doesn't mind wearing clothes?

Brian cut his foot and they wrapped it up and he's been wearing a cone of shame, but we promised him we wouldn't take pictures of him in it. He seems fine though.
