Everyone, don't forget to go and visit the Bean (Cloud Gate), I loved it! You should all get together for a PJ fan photo at the Bean ;) .

For a tasty, filling and affordable breakfast, check out the Wildberry Cafe...they have nice omelettes and skillets, etc. It is a really short walk from the Bean :)

Probably check out that pier thing and see about the architecture boat tour (cuz I REALLY wanna do that)

I did the architecture boat tour (http://www.architecture.org/tours/boat-tours), but can't say that I enjoyed it! My tip to you is don't sit near one of the little speakers on the side of the boat. I couldn't move to a different seat and I was stuck next to the speaker, with the volunteer tour guide's voice blaring out really loudly. If it is a sunny day, I also recommend taking a hat too.

I arrive to Chicago Thursday at 3:10pm. My friend who is meeting me in Chicago won’t be there until 5am Friday. I am staying in the “Loop”? at the Travelodge. I can’t afford a much better of a hotel frankly. Is anyone else staying at the Travelodge?

I will be a loner, loser chilling by himself Thursday night.

I am headed to Sox game on Saturday, and don’t leave until Sunday morning.

This trip is very special to me because of many, many reasons which I will explain later.

I’m just excited and honored to be able to attend this show and have this trip.

    -Ryan

(P.S. It will have been 2,564 days since my last PJ show….WAAAYYY too long)

You must never have watched The Sopranos. RIP James G.

Nope. Couldn't give a shit about The Sopranos. I'm an Italian American from NJ and that show was an insult to the hard work my grandparents contributed to this country. But I did grow up with the word stugots.

So you can't give a shit about a 51 year old dude dying, leaving 2 children behind

Because he acted out a role, written by someone else, which depicted many truths about many Italians

Yet, for your avatar, you select a movie character known for randomly murdering teenagers for fun

Who wants to hang out Thursday night? Then there is Friday!!!! :D Saturday, I'm probably going to sleep in really late because god knows I'll need to, then check out the city a bit, and I'm probably going to the Phish concert that night to check out what THAT shit is all about (anyone else?? Who wants to party Saturday?). Should be interesting.

I don't leave until early Tuesday morning, so Sunday and Monday I'm just playing tourist, alone or randomly with anyone who is around and willing, and if there are people to party with at night, that would be awesome. If there are any cool bands playing anywhere, I'm open to checking them out. Will definitely go to some Chicago record stores too. Of course I'm open to any and all options as they arise and will change plans accordingly. I'm open to whatever comes my way! It's going to be a cool trip!

I'm also seriously considering Phish Saturday night!
Awesome, do it! I think it will be good - looking forward to seeing what all the hubbub is about.

The wife and I arrive at Midway at 7:30AM on Friday after a 2 night stint with Furthur (what's left of the Grateful Dead) in Boston on Wednesday & Thursday. Making our way to the Majestic Hotel about a mile from Wrigley to drop our stuff off as I'm sure we'll be too early for check-in. Probably look for breakfast somewhere in the area, then head to the Wrigley for some bar hopping at Murphy's bleachers, the Cubby Bear, Sluggers, The Vine, and whatever other bar we might decide to stop in at. Lunch, check-in, and a shower at some point would be nice. Back to Wrigley in the late afternoon to continue the pre-party. Probably entering the show somewhere around 7:30 or so.

Saturday will start with having one of my uncles come pick me up so I can pay a visit to my 90 year old grandmother, then heading downtown for Phish at the Charter One Pavillion for my 4th concert in a row (and 6th in a 10 day span - have McCartney and Kid Rock on Tuesday & Wednesday the week before)

Sunday, we are sure to be "foggy rather groggy" as we head home on our 1PM flight out of O'Hare for a much needed 2 days OFF before I have to go back to work on Wednesday.

Flying in from Ft Lauderdale Thursday morning. Gonna go to our hotel, The W (won the 10c travel package). Check out the 10c merch store, relax for a bit, then head to the 10c BBQ in Wrigleyville.

Friday, do a little sight-seeing in the morning, grab some lunch, then head towards Wrigley for the show.

Saturday, whatever the wife wants....I know for sure Art Institute will be on the agenda. Prob Navy Pier that night.

Sunday, whatever the wife wants before heading to the airport for our flight back that night.

Basically, Thursday and Friday whatever I want, Sat and Sun, whatever she wants. Finally less than a month away. I cannot wait!!!!

I've never seen phish and don't consider myself a fan, but my wife saw them once @ the Gorge a few years back and she would like to go, so we might be in on the phish thing. I've also heard great things about the venue. Hyatt bar probably around the 9:00pm hour for us as we do not arrive until in Chicago until after 7. My other worry about the Phish show is we leave around 10am on Sunday which means getting up very early after a phish concert....something I'm sure is never recommended by anyone!

Sturgots thanks for the information and music school offer. Unfortunately, I don't think I would have time to do something like that on Saturday.

Taking a bus from Santa Barbara to LAX, then taking the red-eye flight to Chicago. Arriving early on the day of the show. Meeting up around 1-2 pm with my friend, who lives in Chicago. Heading to pre-parties and then the show. After party if we are up to it. :P

Saturday in Chicago. No idea what I will be doing. More parties/pub gatherings? Some sight-seeing?

Sunday? No idea, but I do fly out that day.
I am just a dreamer, but you are just a dream...
If I knew where it was I would take you there.

Slow down GUYS! I was talking about the word STUGOTS!!!

Not Gandolfini! I feel terrible that he died!

I hope at least the majority of you that read or commented read what I have written here. I was talking about the word and the show, NOT THE ACTOR!

I'm a professional actor myself!!!!!! I hope you all read this because I'm not a heartless bastard and I have a personal affection for Gandolfini. He was a good man by all accounts and his death is a tragedy.

I was a little drunk when I wrote that post so I can see where the confusion came from but I hope that clears it up.

You actually never said you hated the actor at all. Just the show, and nothing wrong with that if that's how you feel. I saw you more as a victim of an overreaction.

Ok, cool. Thanks. You and a few of the others that commented are some of the people that I have the highest regard for here and didn't want to be misunderstood so badly.

For the record, my feelings about that show are complicated (I was actually an extra on it a few times, by the way) but I am far from an easily offended person. Anyway, I'll stop derailing the thread now. Catch you guys later

You're welcome :) . If you're going there on the weekend, just make sure you get there early, because there can be a bit of a wait for a table. It is a big cafe though (I don't think I saw one small cafe or restaurant in Chicago, they were all huge!), it's nothing fancy, but is a good place to get a filling meal :) .
