I will arrive in Chicago in 1980. I will wait patiently in Chicago (for the most part) for 33 years until Thursday July 18th. THat night I will go out drinking and maybe to my favorite Chicago restaurant, Twin Anchors. Best place to go for ribs in all of Chicago, in my opinion.
Friday the 19th, I will be taking off work and I will walk the 1.5 blocks from my home to the stadium and see if there is not some chance of getting a GA ticket. I will then drink and hopefully attend the concert.
Saturday will probably be spent in pain eating hang over food while sitting on my couch as I promise to myself that I will never drink again.0 -
Landing at O'Hare at 5:37pm Thursday. Staying at the Hyatt on Wacker, hopefully just taking it easy, having drinks with some people also staying there or something that night, I dunno. Who wants to hang out Thursday night? Then there is Friday!!!!
Saturday, I'm probably going to sleep in really late because god knows I'll need to, then check out the city a bit, and I'm probably going to the Phish concert that night to check out what THAT shit is all about (anyone else?? Who wants to party Saturday?). Should be interesting.
I don't leave until early Tuesday morning, so Sunday and Monday I'm just playing tourist, alone or randomly with anyone who is around and willing, and if there are people to party with at night, that would be awesome. If there are any cool bands playing anywhere, I'm open to checking them out. Will definitely go to some Chicago record stores too. Of course I'm open to any and all options as they arise and will change plans accordingly. I'm open to whatever comes my way! It's going to be a cool trip!Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -

It's a family trip for us. Packing the Griswold staion wagon early on Friday and driving up from Columbus, OH.
Staying at the Hyatt on Wacker. Dad and I are going to the show (he's a 10c member and won field/lower bowl seats through the lottery). My mom and brother got tickets to see Book of Mormon the same night PJ plays. Saturday my dad has made it a mission to eat at a Mexican restaurant he reads about in Food & Wine Magainze. Head back on Sunday. Nice little family vacation."There's a $10,000 bill in it for you."
"Oh yeah? Which president's on it?"
"Uh, all of them. They're having a party. Jimmy Carter's passed out on the couch."

Arriving at ORD at 8am on Thursday, and departing back to YYZ at 7am on Saturday.
Somewhere in between I'm having a steak at Gibsons and enjoying the gorgeous city that is Chicago. Oh, and the concert too.To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. Thursday - Get in to Midway at 2:30. Hanging out with some friends Thurs night. Probably do some drinking....probably.

Friday - Party it up pre-show at local bars. Buy mamasan23 an Old Style because I apparently "owe her". Go to the show, complain about my shitty seats but still rock out, bars afterwards, drink, have a good time, and drink some more.
Saturday - Wake up thinking "Damn it, I drank too much". Probably going out again Sat night.
Sunday - Drive to the parents and hang out with them for a couple days.
Can't wait!

Is the Mexican Restaurant called Frontera Grill? That is the epic Mexican Restaurant I heard about:
" Frontera Grill is owned by Rick Bayless who has a TV Show “Mexico: One Plate at a Time” . They do have 3 restaurants downtown all in one building. Frontera, Topolobambo and another one that begins with an X. Topo is $$$$, Frontera is $$$ X is $$. X is the only one that sells Torta’s. Frontera has a special stuffed Poblano pepper (which I’ve never gotten) that is sold out early in the day—its supposed to be amazing. Their guacamole is awesome, as is their margaritas and I can speak from experience that their Chocolate Pecan Tart is out of this world delicious. The main dish obviously did not move me because I can’t remember what I got."
We are also staying at the Hyatt on Wacker. Maybe we can meet up with PJ Soul in the hotel bar I keep hearing about!Gorge0 -
Thursday morning arrive at midway.
Haven't a clue as to what is happening other than the show on Friday and now a possible photo op with a tinfoil Stanley Cup.
Hopefully do a water tour sometime before I leave Monday night.
Staying at hotel 71.That I no longer give a fuck

Yeah, that architectural water tour thing sounds cool. I'll definitely be into doing that at some point. I've got the impression that you have to buy tix in advance or you might not get on.bobby dazzlers wrote:Thursday morning arrive at midway.

It's possible, but I'm not sure. He did say the guy who owns it has a TV show so it sounds like it to me. According to my dad it's where we met up with a cousin and had a beer about 10 years ago, but I don't remember the name. I'm down for meeting up at the hotel bar."There's a $10,000 bill in it for you."
