For jazz I'd check out the Green Mill. Steps away from the Red Line (Lawrence station) a few stops north of Wrigley. It was good enough for Capone, so you should be in good hands.

Chicago is a blues town though, so I definitely recommend Kingston Mines and B.L.U.E.S., both on Halsted in Lincoln Park and open seven nights a week. Red line to Fullerton station would get you within walking distance. If I remember right you're staying south loop/chinatown area, Buddy Guy's Legends is closer to that area and always has good options.

 Thanks for the tips! Love me some blues! We thought about going to see that Howlin Wolf "musical", but the tickets were a little steep. So a blues club or something like that would be pretty sweet for one of the nights ...

 Don't expect to be settled in until maybe 8 or 9, and then time to hopefully meet some of the fellow residents. :)

Getting up early on Thursday morning and driving up with my crew from Des Moines, IA - PJ cranking in the car the entire way.
Checking in at the W and buying all my merch at the 10c store.
Partying and enjoying the 10c BBQ and meeting more of you freaks.
Check out Wrigleyville and all it has to offer Friday during the day.
Make our way early to the pre-party at the Full Shilling, meeting and partying my face off with you freaks.
Rock out and enjoy an epic PJ show.
Go out after the show and continue to party my face off with you freaks all through the night.
Recover from no sleep and severe hangover.
Go to wherever my buddy's wife has planned - art institute and other places of interest, etc on Saturday.
Make out way to the Hyatt to see some other PJ friends on Saturday night and go out and party more.
    Drive back home on Sunday.

Pretty much have a fucking great weekend and much needed vacation. I really can't fucking wait.

I am soooo excited! I've always wanted to go to Chicago! Anyone that can suggest a good Jazz club?? Or a Blues house?? That would just make the whole trip super tight!

Sweet thank you! Also any good record stores I should hit up?? I 'be written down all those names and will google them shortly! Thank you soo much !

You must never have watched The Sopranos. RIP James G.

Nope. Couldn't give a shit about The Sopranos. I'm an Italian American from NJ and that show was an insult to the hard work my grandparents contributed to this country. But I did grow up with the word stugots.

So you can't give a shit about a 51 year old dude dying, leaving 2 children behind

Because he acted out a role, written by someone else, which depicted many truths about many Italians

Yet, for your avatar, you select a movie character known for randomly murdering teenagers for fun

Landing at O'Hare at 5:37pm Thursday. Staying at the Hyatt on Wacker, hopefully just taking it easy, having drinks with some people also staying there or something that night, I dunno. Who wants to hang out Thursday night? Then there is Friday!!!! :D Saturday, I'm probably going to sleep in really late because god knows I'll need to, then check out the city a bit, and I'm probably going to the Phish concert that night to check out what THAT shit is all about (anyone else?? Who wants to party Saturday?). Should be interesting.

I don't leave until early Tuesday morning, so Sunday and Monday I'm just playing tourist, alone or randomly with anyone who is around and willing, and if there are people to party with at night, that would be awesome. If there are any cool bands playing anywhere, I'm open to checking them out. Will definitely go to some Chicago record stores too. Of course I'm open to any and all options as they arise and will change plans accordingly. I'm open to whatever comes my way! It's going to be a cool trip!

I'm down for drinking in the lobby bar on Thursday. I'll be at the Hyatt as well.
40+ shows, it is never enough!

And I am an Italian American whose family is from NYC, grandfather had to stop school after 6th grade to support his siblings after his immigrant father died...I loved the show.
People can take offense to seemingly anything they want and I am kind of surprised that someone with the strong opinions and stances you share with us would take offense at a show like The Sopranos. But --- to each their own, it certainly is your right and ability to take offense however you feel.
RIP to a great actor and I am sad for his family & friends.

Sorry to thread jack --- Chicago! Wonderful place, look forward to downing many drinks and reveling in your grandeur o second city!
