Saratoga 2000. But this is not a hype post.

I am somewhat frustrated with this boot. The band playing is close to today's sound - faster and louder but somehow it doesnt sound right. In the recent catalogue of bootlegs, there are much better samples where the band plays faster and louder but still preserves its tightness. Like 2010 boots. And Ed's voice struggles to keep up with the faster playing. When I listened to this one and see that he even struggled at that time when his voice is at the top, I think that Ed puts himself in a very challenging situation by letting the band play such fast and loud, in the recent years. He is not getting younger, at the end of the day.

I have read this boot hypened frequently in the forum but IMHO, it is one of the mediocre performances in the overall great 2000 boots.

Even in this mediocreness, the band still has the power to yield something extraordinary, as in the case of RVM. THe jam part during RVM is simply breattaking.

To tell the truth, I couldnot continue any longer after the middle of first encore. I heard that Ed was promising to make it a long night. So if the performance made a steep turn from that moment on, I might be mistaken.
What's your part, who you are?

    Marseille-2006.

Like you understand within the first few minutes of a movie or a book that it is a masterpiece, you understand very early on that this boot is something special.

Long Road is beautifully performed and the band is right on fire from then on. Ed's vocal work, band's playing, the crowd, the raw energy... All are great. And you have the optimum level of rarities in.

WAs a blast to listen to it.

100% agree, this is the band at its finest. Mark Richards said it best during the encore... “Is this the best fucking band on the planet or what?”

Can anyone recommend a boot from 2000? Which tastes good like St. Louis-2000 ?

I have a lot of time for Tampa, Memphis, Boise, Chicago, Phoenix and Dallas. There are so many good ones. I find Seattle 1, Saratoga and Jones Beach 3 a little flat. Not bad but not classics.
Like a book among the many on a shelf...

    Dublin 02 Arena - 22/6/10. Belfast Odyssey Arena - 23/6/10. London Hyde Park - 25/6/10. Berlin Wuhlheide - 30/6/10.

Tnx a lot. Will go with Tampa.
Was somewhat disappointed with Saratoga so felt the need to ask.

I don't know what it is about Saratoga? They tried to play with a lot of intensity and it just seemed to create timing problems. The California shows were just as intense yet they were really slick and polished. That's another great run of shows actually if you need inspiration, Los Angeles, San Diego, Fresno, San Bernadino, Sacramento and Mountain View. They were close to the finishing line of a mentally tough tour and really went for it with these shows.

Listening to Arras 12 tonight. One of the best shows from 2012 and one of the best festival shows PJ have played since they returned to playing them.

Perhaps, Fresno 2000. Ed's voice is a little low in the mix but its a tight performance that's quite energetic.

    Pistoia '06.

I have to thank "Dimi" (I'm putting quotes because I feel funny calling him by his nickname when I don't even know him) for putting it in his top 10, and thereby leading me to it.

They KILL interstellar-->corduroy and RVM. Insane beginning. I think this is among my favorite performances of both of these.

    I'm still pretty early on.

I must say I love Seattle 2 but more to do with the end of tour party vibe in their home city than the actual quality of the show itself. Boise is the most underrated show from that final stretch for me. Another show which I think stands head and shoulders from some of the higher regarded shows is Pittsburgh. Even Flow as opener! How many people took a pissbreak for that one? Momentum continues with Hail Hail, Animal, Corduroy and Grievance. Really great NAIS, In My Tree, Light Years and Sleight Of Hand. Bull In The Heather tag on Daughter is great too. Pretty hard to top the final five songs in the main set, Last Exit, RVM, Black, I Got Shit and Porch. Breakerfall, Go and Once to start the first encore. Stone up to the mic for Mankind, really nice versions of Small Town and Crazy Mary, Wash played for the first time in four years for a girl who had followed them for multiple shows and had the request written on an umbrella! There's even a rare bonus of I Got You before finishing with an intense Insignificance. The only downside is the single second encore of Baba O Riley which I know most people adore but I hate it with a passion... Indifference would have nailed this shut as a classic. Unbelievable show though!! :D And they played Leatherman too!!
