Great review on Amsterdam 2014 Ian. I just ordered the Amsterdam boots on Wednesday and can't wait to start listening to them. Really looking forward to getting back on the bootleg trail with some hardcore listening, because I've taken some hardcore listening off. Need to start getting prepped for the shows in October!
And you are spot on about Nothingman. That song has really been taken to another level the past two years. It has really benefited from being played so early in the set,

Amsterdam 1, 2014, Apple Losless format. Cannot believe how good this sounds. I read Ian's review and it's spot on. Eddie fucks up a few places and the crowd is right there to carry it. From this kind of high-class start, the tour inevitably apparently evolves into gems like Trieste, Vienna, etc... (Leeds?)
Edit: What a RVM was that? Cheers to the crowd and the band performance. Fucking great.

The second night in Amsterdam starts with Ed saying "Good evening" to the crowd. The band then open with Hard To Imagine. It gave me chills at the gig and it does it again listening to the boot now. Perfect. After Small Town, again like the first night, the band doesn't hang around with the low tempo and launch into Life Wasted. It's a fiery Mind Your Manners; for the last part after the solo Ed's mic breaks and he continues to sing without the mic whilst waiting for a new one - obviously you can't hear this on the boot. Matt continues to sing while Ed is mic-less. Last Exit, Evolution and Severed Hand all follow. Severed Hand is probably the best of this run so far. Getaway is very good and is one of the better versions played so far without doubt. I'd say it doesn't quite translate as well on a boot as it does at a gig. Ed dedicates Dissident to Edward Snowden. The run of Lightning Bolt, Even Flow and Immortality is a pure joy. After Even Flow, Ed tells a little anecdote of how he suffered his leg injury. Marker In The Sand makes it's first appearance in 3 years; Ed introduces it as "one we haven't played in a while and if I were a betting man, I'd bet that we'll fuck it up". The cover of The Beatles Rain is an odd choice, something I thought at the gig too. Coupled with Sirens, it marks a lull in the flow of the set. Just like night 1, the outro singalong of Sirens is great. The crowd briefly tries to continue once the guys are finished but Stone puts a stop to it by launching into Let The Records Play. Better Man closes the main set.
Just Breathe opens the first encore. All Or None is then played for only the 12th time ever. It's a beautiful rendition. I must admit not to being a fan of Pink Floyd but finally seeing Mother played live converted me over to the song. It's beautiful. Another Brick In The Wall is tagged onto the end of Daughter. My Father's Son completes the 'Family' trilogy. Alive completes the encore.
Ed introduces all of the band members and then speaks in Dutch before Black starts the second encore. Excellent performances of Blood and Rockin' In The Free World follow; Stone completely owning the Ziggo Dome with his solo's on the latter. Yellow Ledbetter is the final song of the two night stint in Amsterdam.

boyo79, I've heard from some that Amsterdam 2 was longer than 1st night, in spite of being a shorter set, since it had long intros and outros and jams. Do you agree with this?

I think they're very close to each other in length..

Cleveland 2003 The Can't Keep opener is a great one, even with a few mismatched lyrics that luckily do not distract at all. The tones of Mike and Jeff are ear pleasing, and Matt adds several extra dynamic rhythms/patterns. After an impressive start, the energy buildup hits hard with a powerful Corduroy. Matt again, just on fire. The drum intro to Grievance sounds a bit empty (mic problem perhaps). Ed's vocals on the Binaural scorcher are raw but enjoyable. He sounds livid and energized. Save You-DTE combo is blistering, both are lively takes. Matt sounds like he may have dropped a stick during the later for about 3 seconds, but keeps time well. Ed's vocals are quite strong in GTF. Small Town lets us relax, a very smooth and laid back rendition (the warmth of the 2003 boot audio mix flourishes here). Ed's vocals are particularly impressive, and as the boot goes on it becomes clear he was having a wonderful night vocally. Loud crowd chants for Stone are always welcomed after Small Town concludes. LBC-I Am Mine keeps the intimate low-key vibe going; an impressive double dose of Riot Act that pair nicely together. The crowd begins to chant for Mike, naturally Even Flow shall follow. Ed states they are making some of the set up as they go along. PT is next and it sounds a little unsure of itself but still enjoyable. Matt's dynamics are excellent again. Jeremy keeps mid tempo flowing, which can be a bit tedious to get through but does flow fairly well. Not to sound redundant, but Matt truly helps kick this version of Jeremy up a notch (it's a bit slow for my liking, so forceful accents from Matt do help). Lukin is exactly what was needed to boost energy, Ed's lyrics are all over the place but his vocals sound ferocious. NTF perfectly keeps the live energy moving, and Ed's vocals are awesome and powerful. Stone, almost as always, killing it in the solo as well. Intriguingly, Thumbing My Way is next. Jeff and Matt's subtle rhythms are nothing short of beautiful, as are Ed's richly textured vocals. A few moments sent chills down my spine. STBC-Alive (Ed's vocals so strong again) end the enjoyable, incredibly tight main set.
Interestingly, You Are - Animal opens the first encore. Animal feels a lot slower than what we are used to now, but the energy is abundant. Ed's vocals are still shining and strong. Stone's infectious grooves in Animal come through brilliantly. Daughter is absolutely fantastic. The haunting, almost tribal-like vocals after the WMA tag are spellbinding. Jeff stands out nicely during the People Have the People tag. SOLAT feels just right following the powerful take on Daughter. It feels like it was taken out of the 1990s for me, truly an impressive take on SOLAT by all. Black ends the awesome first encore, a very slow and deeply saddened sounding version. Truly beautiful.
Ever since the first time I heard Ed sing I Am A Patriot on the Lexington 03 boot, I thought it was one of his strongest covers vocally. This version is quite good too. Up next is another personal favorite cover, Driven to Tears. A quick Betterman works well to keep momentum up (feels nice this late in the gig) before we drop into Crazy Mary. Later in the jam, Mike and Matt are truly intense; awesome stuff. After such a powerhouse ending to Crazy Mary, Sonic Reducer hits the spot to follow. It's a good version, but a few transitions sound a bit rough. RITFW concludes the show.
A superbly enjoyable boot. I thoroughly found Ed's performance at this gig to be well above average; both lyrically and vocally. It's a tight performance by all, and the set flow may be a little mid-tempo reliant at times but still smooth enough. One of my favorite boots out there overall.

Thank you very much. Should be interesting, then. I mean, Night 2.
Yeah in terms of time playing, it's pretty much the same. But they played 32 songs on night 1 and 29 on night 2. A couple of longer songs on night 2 and Ed does a lot of talking!!
