you compare the singing of pj song with Bruce songs??..ok..
you try to sing int he row Go,Animal,Solat and Habit ,run and jump and be 50 years old and you will need hot tea for your throat and 3 days off work

thats the point. Bruce still does it everynight and he's now 63.
    Just saying.
And he's been doing it since the 70s on a very consistent basis.
im not singer but feel like solat is 50 times harder and needs more pressure for the voice to sing than glory days..and habit 100 times harden that my hometown
    its apple and oranges..
madonna jump and dance and sing at whole of her show..she cant do it for 4 hours..
its frikin difficult to dance ,run and sing..and breathe the same time

    Set 1 7:40 - 8:40 probably acoustic
    Set 2 9:00 - 10:40 main set
    Encore 1 10:45 - 11:05
    Encore 2 11:10 - 11:30
    Encore 3 11:40 - 11:55

To give Ed a break, I recommend a long version of Crazy Mary and Black, Stone singing a song, Matt singing a song, and Jeff singing a song.
Jeff singing a song :fp: it better not be Sweet Lew that ruined the final Philly Spectrum encore, it was awful, worse than a drunk karaoke act, and I like Jeff, but not one of his stronger moments, kind of like this

    It should be NAIS.

All things being equal I agree with you, but if Bruce is doing well over 100 shows a tour at over 3 hours a show I would think that would be overall more taxing and tiring than a a dozen PJ shows a year. Bruce also moves around a lot, crowdsurfs, etc..so he isn't just standing there. And like Bathgate says, he's been doing this for decades...and he still keeps going.

Second, I think PJ shows are fine in length... 2:15 - 2:30 being the average. I would rather see more setlist diversity and tighter shows, with some songs slowed down a bit (as has been discussed here in the past). Of course, I would love it if they played longer, but I'm happy with what they do now.

I don't think it's fair to either act to compare them. They are 2 completely different acts.
    2003: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Seattle; 2005: Monterrey; 2006: Chicago 1 & 2, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Detroit; 2008: West Palm Beach, Tampa; 2009: Austin, LA 3 & 4, San Diego; 2010: Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus, Indianapolis; 2011: PJ20 1 & 2; 2012: Missoula; 2013: Dallas, Oklahoma City, Seattle; 2014: Tulsa; 2016: Columbia, New York City 1 & 2; 2018: London, Seattle 1 & 2; 2021: Ohana; 2022: Oklahoma City

thats what i said from the beggining..cant compare..cant say why they dont play 4 hours like Bruce..
well,i tell u.no bruce or eddie can do what madonna do on stage, singing, running, dancing, sycronize with dancers, breathe ,change clothes,costumes..
but is different things, cant compare them.so,when you say play 3:30 like bruce, makes no sense to me..
they can make an acoustic set and play 5 hours with talking and chating with the fans..
the time doesnt say anything to me
Iron Maiden playing 1 hour and a half....its impossible to play more time and this type of music more time..
and dont tell me that the Boss do the same running and jumping and screaming like B Dickinson does on stage

They don't need to be Bruce length.

But they should realise ppl doesn't (only) come for the "punk rockers".

So they could remove a few rockers (if needed) and replace it with an acoustic/sit down section in the middle.

Play the first set as usual.

Change the first encore into an accoustic section (and a bit longer than the encore is now)

End as usual with an encore 2 with the Alives and the RITFW's that everyone wants to sing and dance to before it's time to leave.

But maybe that would make Eddie loose money on his solo tours. He'll keep the slow ones for that.

    ....

i respect Bruce,he is huge..amazing..but he cant do what eddie does on stage for more time than eddie

    seriously?
    have you seen bruce play?
bruce works it out hard at every show i've seen. he certainly doesn't stand still and sing for 3hours!
the "problem" with bruce is right now @ 64 yrs old he is spinning circles around all other performers and no one can catch up with him

that is why he is the boss

pearl jam could play longer shows easily

My oldest stepbrother told me back in the 80's, "Eric, there's people that love Bruce Springsteen and there's people that have never seen him live."

I wasn't a fan at all until that first show. I've now seen him a dozen times. If it wasn't for the insatiable lust for great live rock that that first Bruce show instilled in me I never would've given PJ another thought after seeing them back in '92 or '93 at SPAC (at a Lolla fest)... a wild, very wet, and typical show for a band with a limited catalog.

Now I'm a huge PJ fan.

Love that their expanded catalog has led to longer shows.

Do I expect Bruce-length shows? No. PJ always has a opening act and that'll always limit the length of their sets.

FWIW, Bruce typical set lasts a little over 3 hours in an arena and closer to 3.5 in a stadium. PJ gives about 2.5 typically, right? Unless its a festival set.

Saw the Foo's at MSG a couple years ago and they played 3 hours of very high octane rock and they had 2 openers.

Regardless, all three acts make me very happy because you leave there feeling like they've given you everything they have at an affordable price.

Bruce shows are always about $98 no matter where you're seated; PJ about $60-$80.

I'll do that every time either band comes within a 5 hour drive.

Final thought: I've actually never met anyone in person who has seen Bruce live and still says he sucks. Sometimes there really is substance to the legend. The same could be said for PJ. Go see both acts as often as you can because one day soon you'll wake up and they won't be touring anymore.

I haven't seen Bruce live yet, and would like to, and will next time he's in town, but that's not going to make me like his upbeat songs any more than I do now, which is not much at all. I just think pretty much all of it just sounds like mediocre rock. And if I go to a show and he's still fucking playing after I've been there for 3.5 - 4 hours, I'll walk out. :P

Sweet. If Kenny G walked out on stage my life would be complete.
