And most of the performers I work with also just look at porn as a part-time hobby. They don't exchange sex for money off camera and they have control over their scene partners and what they're doing. While it's maybe not something you would personally do.. I would never work as a line chef but that doesn't mean that I think line chefs are whores.

To "whore one's self out" means to debase one's self by doing something for unworthy motives. And while maybe having sex on camera is something that you would find debasing and unworthy... we're all adults. Nobody is there doing anything that they don't want to do. There isn't - for example - a three year old whose inclusion isn't really his decision.

Just because someone is making money in the porn industry doesn't necessarily mean they are exploiting the workers (not that it doesn't happen, just like in many other industries, and probably more so than usual).

Actually... I saw a lot more drug abuse, sexual harassment, worker exploitation, back-stabbing, shady business practices and all-around lechery when I worked at a corporate purchasing office. You'd be amazed at how corporate and button-down we are behind the scenes.

i listened to her entire speech on xm. the patriot channel, to be exact. it struck me as nothing more than the same jingoistic crap that she is known for. throwing out zingers at obama and the gop leadership and the "lamestream media", and offeriing no solutions at all. anybody can do that. anybody can memorize a few zingers and throw them out there for consumption. anyone can go out there and gripe and offer no solutions. that is why the gop is a better minority party. they can sit back and complain and blame the other guy and not have to defend themselves or their record to the public. i found that the boob joke was in poor taste for a party who trumpets conservatism and family values, and the big gulp thing was nothing more than to provoke a reaction. if sarah palin is the future of the gop, the gop has no future.

i did find it telling that she basically committed political suicide by blasting karl rove and the koch brothers. she will never get their support or their money again. and that tells me that she will never run for office again. she can not raise enough money on her own and the kochs and rove's pac will invest many millions just to beat her.

Well... My feeling is that people who will compromise their own selves for money are the whores. But I guess we have a different view of sex and what it is.

Personally, I think that people who work for companies that they are morally opposed to but do it for the money... THOSE are the whores.

However, there IS exploitation in the industry - I've heard about it from the mouths of those who have been exploited in all kinds of terrible ways, as well as from those who try and support the exploited - namely young vulnerable girls.

OK yeah. But there's exploitation in EVERY industry and the porn industry is actually the only one where they women make more than the men. So if anyone is getting exploited....

It's the children who probably made our iphones and the below-minimum wage guy who delivered us pizza last week.

I think we just have different ideas of what the word "whore" means. not of sex and what it is. When I use the word, it means someone who takes money for sex. That's it. Because that's what the word means. The word doesn't apply to anything else. What you call a whore, I call an asshole with no conscience.

And I'm obviously not claiming that other people in the world aren't exploited. I'm just saying that exploitation IS an issue in the porn industry - a problem that has ruined lives - and it kind of bugs me to see someone from within the industry pretending that it doesn't exist just because it isn't always an issue.

Well... OK but I've worked in the adult industry for well over a decade and while there certainly are stories you hear... those are very much the exception and not the rule.

I saw and still see a LOT more worker exploitation out of the porn industry than I EVER have in it.

I know... I know... I saw Boogie Nights, too. That was a movie. The industry really isn't like what you're lead to believe from seeing it depicted in Mainstream movies and TV shows. And Fox news, John Stosel reports and stories you hear on CSPAN.

I mean... my doctor was a porn star. So was my lawyer and the guy who sold me my house up in San Francisco. And my best friend who now works at NASA on one of the Mars lander projects. But we seem to have gotten away from Sarah Palin making an ass of herself at CPAC so I guess next time I should just call Bristol Palin "a shitty mother who exploits her child and shames herself for cash."

Screwing for cash and Making money off people screwing for cash is much worse. If it was not, why do people hide the fact that they do it.
