I'm with you there, unsung. Cows milk especially. Even cow cheese. I find goat cheese much more digestible.

The thing is, a lot of kids will still be drinking milk and the idea of having Aspartame in their milk ass-insane.

    So wrong in many aspects.

First - adding an ingredient to a natural product without having to put in on the label.... wrong. We, as consumers have the right to know what goes in our foods to enable us to make informed decisions.

Second - why in the hell do we need to 'train' our kids to like sweet stuff? What's wrong with the taste of mild with no flavouring? Do we need to put sugar on everything so our kids will eat? That does not abode well for the future of these kids choices when it comes to nutrition.

Third - consumption of milk is in decline? There are reasons for that - and rightly so.

Might not help but there is a way to let the FDA know that you are opposed to this measure and you can leave a comment about what you think about it. I blasted them for this when I commented. Here is the link if you're interested.

It's time for us to quit allowing the FDA and businesses control our food choices and take control of our own supply.
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

I don't drink milk or diet soda either. Without proper labeling, how are people with food allergies supposed to know what is in a product?

This is wrong on so many levels.

I only drink Organic Milk, but it's still over pasteurized and loses many/most of it's nutrients (which of course they try to put back in)

Raw Milk is best, as long as certain precautions are taken.

It's illegal to sell Raw Milk for human consumption but legal to sell for 'pet' or 'animal' consumption, Which is the 'loophole' many people use to obtain and drink Raw/Real Milk themselves.

It is illegal in KY as well which is crazy to me but you can buy a "share" of a cow to be able to drink it. If there was a farm close enough that is what I would do! Crazy what the FDA does to "protect" us!

I just called my Local 'Whole foods' store, they don't carry 'raw milk' anymore, sadly!

I'm not sure if all the locations have stopped carrying it, but I know some did at one point.

i'm of the opinion that we shouldn't be drinking milk period ... most people are lactose intolerant to some degree ... it is difficult to digest and it's one of the first things they cut in your diet when you get sick ...
  • Why are humans the only mammals to continue to drink milk after being an infant????????

The poison from the poison stream caught up to you ELEVEN years ago and you floated out of here. Sept. 14, 08

It's up to the individual, person by person. If someone is unable to tolerate the lactose, then don't drink it.

Having said that, I have read reports on many people who were said to be lactose intolerant but when they switched to raw milk, they were able to handle it with little or no issues. Of course how true are those reports? I have no idea Cause it seems to go against reason, I mean if ones body is lacking the enzyme Lactase (which breaks down the lactose) then what difference would raw mill make? Probably none,

Which means a few things, one thing may be that some/many people who switched to raw milk never had a 'real' lactose intolerance, rather something else in pasteurized milk that was causing their issues.

But if someones curious they should try it out and see how their body responds.
    -

For me, personally, I know when I don't drink milk for long periods of time then start drinking it again I seem to have issues. But after drinking it again for a while my body adjusts to it.

    I also loooove Chocolate Milk...( :D )

Anyone know why we are the only species to consume milk into adulthood?

This isn’t only for milk, either: It’s also for yogurt, cream, sour cream, eggnog, whipping cream and a total of 17 products, all of which are listed in the petition at FDA.gov.

    As the petition states:
IDFA and NMPF request their proposed amendments to the milk standard of identity to allow optional characterizing flavoring ingredients used in milk (e.g., chocolate flavoring added to milk) to be sweetened with any safe and suitable sweetener — including non-nutritive sweeteners such as aspartame.
This is all being done to “save the children,” we’re told, because the use of aspartame in milk products would reduce calories.

It's funny, you'd think the FDA looks out to protect us, but in reality, there're just another corrupt gov't agency doing what special interests pay them to do. The FDA also endorses whatever Monsanto wants them to.

The bigger question is this: If an industry is pushing to hide aspartame in its products, what else is it already hiding? How about the pus content of its dairy products? How about its inhumane treatment of animals who are subjected to torture conditions and pumped full of genetically engineered hormones?

At the same time, how do I tell my 9 year old that she has to stop drinking milk (she drinks it every day)? There's already a huge demand for organic milk, I've seen some local stores run out often. This will only increase the demand for organic even more, and these farms are already feeling the pressure.

Why are humans the only mammals to continue to drink milk after being an infant????????

My ex-husband said that his family doctor when he was growing up always said "milk is for baby cows."

There is no reason to drink cow's milk or any other milk for that matter unless it is your momma's milk and you are an infant. The dairy industry destroys the environment, is cruel, and takes lots and lots of tax money (in the form of farm subsidies).

Because of cereal and Oreo cookies. :geek:

Real answer: We are the only species with enough advanced intelligence to know how to extract it from other animals for consumption.
