Didn't see this mentioned yet, may have missed it, but here goes. Most, and probably all, of the GA tickets listed on Stubhub are speculators without tickets, yet. They see a GA section on the seating chart so they post GAs (that they don't have) on Stubhub at ridiculous prices. But they know that SECONDARY MARKET PRICES ONLY GO DOWN!! So they depend on folks paying them a fortune now, claim a ship date as late as possible (7/16) and know they'll get GAs later at a much lower price, and then ship them to you. Happens all the time.
What they don't know is the specifics around GA being TC only (if that's the case), and will call.
So, if you buy GA on Stubhub, be prepared for it falling thru, and making your claim with Stubhub, which means you'll just get your money back in the case that all GA is really TC and will call. I bet a lot of these listing will fall off once sellers realize they can't get them.
since PJ music is my medicine, I just may buy my tix tonight.
Don't do it!!! The prices certainly won't go UP between now and July, and they certainly aren't going to run out between now and July either, so why not wait until it's July and see what the prices are?? The very worst that could happen is that you end up paying the same then as you do now, but if you do it now, you'll probably spend way more than you need to (and help keep ticket prices high).
okay, kind PJ fan, you've talked me off the ledge - at least for tonight. But how will I get through this... not knowing if I am going...
Think of it this way: You DO know you're going.

I'm not sugarcoating it. That wasn't my intent at all. There is a BIG different between street scalpers and ticket brokers. Not morally, but operationally.
bingo and im talking "morally"
a scalper is a scalper

Uh huh. But I wasn't talking morally. We're talking about operations here, not the right or wrong of reselling tickets - there are a million threads about that already.

Oh, and btw, the starting price on Stubhub has already dropped by $30 since the public sale, and that's only 5 days.

My wife and I HAD used StubHub many times with no problems, until the Soundgarden show at the Orpheum in Boston. Bought paper tickets months in advance, had them shipped to my house well in advance too. Luckily, I brought the stubhub receipt with me to the show as when they scanned our tickets at the door THEY HAD ALREADY BEEN USED. I was lucky to get tix at the box office, and StubHub refunded my money (and paid for the tickets). Not worth the hassle IMO, as if the box office did not have tix I would have been shut out!
PJ_Soul -- July seems so far away... I just don't want to risk waiting too long and then NO tickets will be available.
Impossible for a show this size. Have used StubHub plenty of times for concerts and baseball games. Wait until a couple weeks before the show and there will be plenty on the site at lower prices and people here unloading extras, too. The only shows you have to worry about are bands playing in rooms way too small for their popularity. Otherwise, buying now is buying at the absolute peak of the secondary market.
thank you all again... I am going to wait. What worries me more than the price is the delivery date, I want to try to find a ticket that will be emailed to me at point of purchase. I've always had good luck with Stubhub, but never had to wait till the day of show to pick up ticket... that is a bit suspect. :wtf:
i have a friend that knows the mayor of Chicago..he told me he will hook me up with 20 GA for me and my friends...im waiting to see if its legit
Can I have one???
I hate to say this, but....
Like it or not Dimi, there are GA tickets out there, no matter what 10C is telling you. Chicago is a big city, and so many people with connections and calling in favors will get tickets.
This is the thing about having a GA area... there's "capacity" and then there's capacity. major venues/concert promoters frequently jam more people into GA areas than their allowed, if there's the demand.
I'm sure 10C were told they got all the GA's.... but I gaurentee you there's people out there with them already in their hand...
And again, like it or not, if a fan club member is determined to scalp his GA for some ungodly sum of money, he'll do it, and someone will pay for it... once the tickets are in his hands from the box office, there's so many things you can do with them....
is what he told me..i have a list friends want GA...
whatever i know i pass it..i want to help good people out there..
so far only 1 GA i found and pass it to a friend..more than 20 seated..
5 months..i hope all get fixed..
and really..there are 2 people im dying to help with GA ...ill fuckin find spares for them..
And i really hope you find tickets for everyone that you're trying to help out... I know you have the best intentions at heart and want to help everyone. Unfortunately, I think for the time being you're going to be at a bit of a stalemate Dimi.... I would say about 2 months before the show you're going to start seeing a lot of people with an extra.... people who have the traveling buddy bail for whatever reason... but until then I think you're going to be lucky to see anything.
and no, i don't have proof that GA tickets exist in people's hands at this point - but I also think you're naive if you truly believe they don't exist. I gaurentee you they're out their somewhere... i bet chicago radiostations have some to give away... and I bet there are high-rollers out there who have them too... but can I prove it? nope...
Promoters always over-sell big shows like this. ALWAYS.
The first tool show I ever saw in 2006 at the Molson Ampitheater in Toronto the lawn was oversold by 2000 tickets and the venue got caught because you physically couldn't move up there...
Happened again at the Amp in 2009 when PJ played there - the venue didn't get caught this time, but I personally know several Amp employees and have met the manager of the place and he told me as much before the show when I was sitting in his office chilling with him having a beer...
So I wouldn't doubt that some of these tickets are legit, but it's still a risky move to pull buying them...
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

If anything thats NOT suspect. Means youre getting your tix through a 10club member who can only get their tickets the DAY OF the show.
Or you could pay $25,000 per tic and have them by Feb. 19th. WTF is that! :fp:
no legit tix

The dates say July 16 for all of them because that is only as far as stubhub would let them put them up until
Yes, because the sellers don't actually have tickets yet
This makes the most logical sense now after reading everyone's thoughts on the matter. Sellers with these way overpriced tickets do not actually have tickets, they are hedging their bets that they will score them and be able to flip them for a profit, albeit probably not a large one. Seems like a lot of effort to make a buck. just my .02 cents.
So glad I asked this question before buying overpriced, perhaps non-existent tickets.

I sit in an office 50 hours a week working away - that seems like a lot of effort to make a buck.
Spending 8-12 hours on the Friday of the show working ppl to try and buy their tickets from them, and make more than most of the US population makes in an entire week of work by reselling those tickets.... that seems like a walk in the park to me...
In fact, maybe I should change professions... clearly my engineering degree wasn't the right way to go...

Re: Super Bowl - same thing likely in play here...
To understand this, you first have to understand the complexities of the ticket market. The most important thing to understand is that the ticket today is bought and sold very much in the same way stocks are. Brokers short tickets by selling them before they get their hands on them, taking the risk of filling them closer to the game for a chance at better margins. And the transparency of the marketplace provided by the resale sites such as StubHub enables those who "trade" in the ticket market to see the sentiment of the masses as prices go up and down on information.
Or you could pay $25,000 per tic and have them by Feb. 19th. WTF is that! :fp:
no legit tix
Dimi, I know you and I discussed this in another thread, but to think that the 10Club got EVERY single GA seat is so naive it borders on insanity. There will be many people in GA that have NOTHING to do with 10Club. I witnessed this first-hand at PJ20 when many people in Rows 1-2 and backstage were NOT affiliated with 10Club. Plenty of GA tix for high-rollers, donors, season-ticket holders are out there, and it is entirely possible they are flipping them. Or, as others have said, some of the flippers are 10Club members who will get the tickets and then meet someone to hand them over.
Either way, with Stubhub, all your purchases are protected; you cannot get screwed out of your money if the ticket is no good. Remember people, Stubhub is not a ticket broker, it is simply a marketplace website where people post tickets. But to post a ticket, you have to enter a valid credit card. And as a buyer, if for some reason the transaction busts, you do not pay any money. And Stubhub is really good about making sure you get a ticket (often for free) if the deal goes bad.
Now, can I absolutely 100% prove the GA tickets are legit? No, but you cannot prove all the GA seats are 10Club either. And especially since your opinion is so highly regarded here, I think it is disingenuous for you to keep posting otherwise. If someone wants to pay $10,000 for a GA seat on Stubhub, then they should go ahead and do it. Who are we to tell someone what something is worth to him/her?

You people are starting to get on my fucking nerves.
That reminds me - I better go bump my Lost Dog's post!
There is a better chance of Jennifer Aniston coming over to my house, wearing a French Maid outfit, and telling me how sexy she thinks Truck Drivers are.
Than there is of you people getting GA tickets.
Take me piece by piece..... Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....

Don't do it, be patient. The prices will come down. Most people won't pay these prices and as it gets closer to the show they will drop.
