Yes, because the sellers don't actually have tickets yet
This makes the most logical sense now after reading everyone's thoughts on the matter. Sellers with these way overpriced tickets do not actually have tickets, they are hedging their bets that they will score them and be able to flip them for a profit, albeit probably not a large one. Seems like a lot of effort to make a buck. just my .02 cents.
So glad I asked this question before buying overpriced, perhaps non-existent tickets.0 -

I sit in an office 50 hours a week working away - that seems like a lot of effort to make a buck.
Spending 8-12 hours on the Friday of the show working ppl to try and buy their tickets from them, and make more than most of the US population makes in an entire week of work by reselling those tickets.... that seems like a walk in the park to me...
In fact, maybe I should change professions... clearly my engineering degree wasn't the right way to go...Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.0 -
Re: Super Bowl - same thing likely in play here...
To understand this, you first have to understand the complexities of the ticket market. The most important thing to understand is that the ticket today is bought and sold very much in the same way stocks are. Brokers short tickets by selling them before they get their hands on them, taking the risk of filling them closer to the game for a chance at better margins. And the transparency of the marketplace provided by the resale sites such as StubHub enables those who "trade" in the ticket market to see the sentiment of the masses as prices go up and down on information.

Dimi, I know you and I discussed this in another thread, but to think that the 10Club got EVERY single GA seat is so naive it borders on insanity. There will be many people in GA that have NOTHING to do with 10Club. I witnessed this first-hand at PJ20 when many people in Rows 1-2 and backstage were NOT affiliated with 10Club. Plenty of GA tix for high-rollers, donors, season-ticket holders are out there, and it is entirely possible they are flipping them. Or, as others have said, some of the flippers are 10Club members who will get the tickets and then meet someone to hand them over.
Either way, with Stubhub, all your purchases are protected; you cannot get screwed out of your money if the ticket is no good. Remember people, Stubhub is not a ticket broker, it is simply a marketplace website where people post tickets. But to post a ticket, you have to enter a valid credit card. And as a buyer, if for some reason the transaction busts, you do not pay any money. And Stubhub is really good about making sure you get a ticket (often for free) if the deal goes bad.
Now, can I absolutely 100% prove the GA tickets are legit? No, but you cannot prove all the GA seats are 10Club either. And especially since your opinion is so highly regarded here, I think it is disingenuous for you to keep posting otherwise. If someone wants to pay $10,000 for a GA seat on Stubhub, then they should go ahead and do it. Who are we to tell someone what something is worth to him/her?0 -

Lets hear it.It's just that I'm waiting on someone to confirm a GA ticket (or not) - they're needing to wait to see if a friend can or can't go. So that's Plan A with fingers and toes crossed - I am not banking on it, but there's hope. Plan B is waiting to see if someone else's friend comes or not - that's for a reserved seat. Randomly asking on Lost Dogs is Plan C. Plan D is just waiting until prices drop and buying from resellers; this is not my preference; I'd much rather have a ticket buddy. Plan E cannot be mentioned on a family friendly forum such as this one.
Kidding!
But yeah, the GA ticket thing is a bit out of control. Not people looking for ticket buddies at face value - that's cool... But people offering expensive trades, and up to $1000 cash, etc, is bullshit. And the ones with tickets who want to sell for profit or take these trades are even worse. A lot of 10C members are stomping all over the principles that 10C is trying to maintain, and it's disappointing to this idealistic member. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. What's the effort??? It takes all of 5 minutes in front of a PC to create a Stubhub listing stating that you have great tickets priced at a ridiculous amount. You then go on with your life. Within a couple days someone "buys your tickets" at the ridiculous amount. You continue to go on with your life. A week before the show you go onto Stubhub and instantly buy similar tickets for next to nothing; they are shipped or e-mailed to you. You turn around spend another 5 minutes to ship or e-mail the tickets to your original buyer. If shipping you just hit a "Print Shipping Label" on Stubhub.
There isn't an easier dollar to be made.0 -

well I guess that is something I wouldn't waste time doing; er making an effort of robbing a fellow pearl jam fan just to make a buck. I'd rather make money a more noble and honest way. But that is just me. If I enough money, I'd buy everyone a ticket. I just want to acquire a ticket legitimately, which is why I started this thread. And my question was about if purchasing GA tix on Stubhub was legit.
Sometimes making an easy buck is not so easy later on. what goes around comes back around, imho.

Another Stubhub thread went up, so I went and counted all the tickets sold so far. For GA there have been 23 tickets sold so far on Stubhub with a low price of $750 and a high of $1,925. We'll see if any/all of those come thru. Hopefully someone on here has bought and will let us know how it turned out.
2,189 tickets sold so far on Stubhub0 -
My understanding is that all of GA are reserved for fan club only.____________________
