    From what I've read, Abdulrahman al-Awlaki was killed in a strike several weeks later where he was riding along with the intended target, an Egyption Al Queda leader.

    Just curious if you'd expand this to heads of state who you know give the okay to wipe out an entire wedding party and then say oops, it's not terrorism, it's a mistake. ;) Don't open up a can of worms and then throw the word terrorism around with only the US dictionary's meaning.

    I am not calling the kid innocent in the general sense. he may have been a piece of shit too, but the distinction between innocent and guilty should be made in a court of law. he was never charged, he was never indicted, there was no evidence he was plotting or attacking anyone. I have friends who sold/sell pot, because I am near them doesn't mean I do as well...

    if I use the logic used to justify these drone strikes, we could take out any citizen at any point considering no actual evidence of imminent threat is necessary.

    I was just going to say I wrote that.

    I would define it as anyone who targets innocent people. Plan is the important part of that thought.

    When you bring down a building filled with innocent people, or convince someone to blow themselves up in a crowded market place you are a terrorist no matter what freedom cause you think you are fighting. I think the use of drones to assassinate is terroristic in nature to be honest with you.

    The White House just called overseas drone strikes on American citizens "ethical, legal, and wise".

    I don't know if it is even legal but a revocation of their citizenship could be a possibility, otherwise you try them in absentia.

    You don't just assassinate them.





    Let's be very clear this is millions of times worse than the Bush administration waterboarding, and I remember most of you here had a shitfit about that. Don't lower your standards for what is right and just.

    I agree with your assesment of trying them or revocation of citisenship but that would not stop them from carrying out acts of terror ...

    But that wasn't the issue. The issue is following the Constitution and not allowing ANY President to become King. Targeted assassination of US Citizens is grounds for impeachment.

    What happens if Dick Cheney became President and wanted to do the same thing?

    First "most" wanted to impeach Bush and then "most of you had a shitfit about" waterboarding. Even assuming both of those statements are true, understand that not all of us shared those views. I never wanted to impeach Bush and I understand why it was decided waterboarding was necessary. And I also understand why this is necessary.
