How about you just don't put in for shows you're unsure of being able to go to? Why should you (effectively) get to decide if another member gets tickets or not?

If you can go, sign up. If you can't, too bad. I hope they don't work all these angles to force folks to think before they purchase (or "suffer" the consequences - that's called life).

100% in favor of the lottery but also in favor of this. I understand scheduling conundrums some may face but you don't need 10C tickets to go to a show. Enter for shows you know you can attend and then fill in the blanks with other tickets. The view from the balcony will not kill you. :D
i was gonna just post this too..
nbo 10c tickets doesnt mean you will not be at the show./..you can always find spares or tix in the market

Agree. I didn't buy any fan club tickets for Europe 2012 even though I went to 7 shows over there. I needed flexibility so I went the public sale route so that I could sell them if I couldn't make the trip. I still ended up with standing at both Berlin shows, 7 rows up on the side in Amsterdam, standing in Prague and Copenhagen. Only ended up with one "bad" ticket in Stockholm which was a good chance to relax and just focus on the music. I'm sure if I tried I could have found extra 10c to every show.

if someone can afford 10+ tickets and afford the time off to do that, that someone surely can afford a ticket anyehere in the venue, even from scalpers...

that's not necessarily true regarding scalpers

So, probably a stupid question but the Benny doesn't say it is the vinyl set. Couldn't it be the CD set? I realize the email says rare but all the other merch specifically says vinyl. Not trying to be a negative nancy but was curious since everyone seems to be assuming it's the vinyl.
It says "box set." The Cd was not released as a box set. Just a fairly normal looking cardboard bootleg package. Only the vinyl was released as a box set.

plus, they are throwing backpacks, pj20 coloured vinyl, white backspacer and mad season rsd purple which are about 10... I wouldn't thought it wasn't the vinyl...

If you select a max of 1 show... and pick all 15 shows in priority order... then you will only get selected for one show. You don't get tickets for all 15 and then get to pick and choose. The system randomly picks people. If your name was drawn for your 4th 8th and 12th choice show... and you have a max set to 1.. you'll get your forth choice and the other 3 will be given to someone else.
    ok,in better english,that i was trying to say!..great idea.

I really like this as well. (Sounds like it might be tough for a programmer though. This is also a backup to make sure someone who wants to go to at least one show doesn't get shut out (especially if they only put in for NY). Also ensures 10C sells another set of tickets.

This could work. Let's say you have to purchase "Credits" for all the shows you want to go. So PJ is playing 4 nights in my hometown. I can only afford to go to two shows. So I prioritize my list in order of 1-4, like it is now. I go to another screen and pre-pay for two of them. So now I get two credits on the system. Show 1 gets raffled, I don't win. Show 2 gets raffled, I win (now I have 1 credit left). Show 3 gets raffled and I win. Now I have no credits left. Show 4 gets raffled and I get drawn, but I have no credits left so the tickets go in for a re-raffle. The system loops through this until all tickets are gone.

  • This new ticketing system is a great idea, especially for the popular tour cities. Hopefully gone are the days of the website crashing, and people having cardiac arrests just trying to buy concert tickets. The test of the faux tour is smart as well and I want to win that damn backpack! 8-)

    Great idea!!!!!!!!

I think the whole point of agreeing to pay for shows up front is to avoid this, so everyone is not putting in for a lot of shows they are not even sure they can make or afford. And lets look at this realistically- PJ has played 4 shows in the same city twice? And both were special occasions. From what I read on this idea, you are just trying to increase your odds of getting a show.

I would try for more shows if I could secure singles. My job comes with a lot of flexibility and vacation time. Most of my friends don't have that luxury.

I was going to ask a similar question. Unless we are going to be limited to one show per tour under the new system, then I think they could just add a drop down box on the order screen to say "Maximum number of shows I want to purchase tickets for:". That situation needs to be dealt with somehow. So let's say there are 10 shows on the tour and 5 of them are within driving distance for me but I can only afford to go to 2 shows. I'd rank the 5 shows that I liked and then put 2 in the maximum shows box. I'm sure there are other ways to accomplish this so it will be interesting to see what they do on the next tour.

I think they have dealt with it, you agree to pay for the shows you put in for. I think they are trying to avoid everyone being able to put in for every show, but they only want to go to one.

Realistically, this whole ranking your picks is only for the high demand shows, the Northeast, Seattle, Chicago, etc. I don't think they want everyone putting in for say both Boston shows, but saying if I don't get them, at least I can fall back on Atlanta or Charlotte.

  • i think the ticket buying situation is fine. It's the lack of concerts to buy tickets for that is killing me

  • So I'm new around here, and I took part in the test ticket system thing that they emailed us about this week.

My question - after browsing the Forum a bit, I get the impression that it's usually REALLY hard to get good tickets/what you want during the Fan Club presales...is that accurate, generally-speaking?

I joined up in hopes that 2013 will come with a lot of PJ activity (like most of us are hoping for), so I'm just curious.

The system seemed pretty painless to me...

Well, you might get the tickets, but by just joining you're going to be screwed by the seniority system for where your seats will be.

It has been in the past. An insane amount of refreshing your browser and website crashes. There is a new system this year that hopefully will be an improvement. But that does remain to be seen.
