All smiles and excitement. The very best part of the holidays... believing.

    Believing? Believing in what? Santa?

Please try and make some sense. This is the whole point of words and communication - to make the other person understand you. Posting cryptic nonsense in the style of Yoda does not fit this bill.

I hope your holiday is a great one. I hope you have peace and receive some good will as well as perform some. Let's hope 2013 is better for everyone.
    Happy Festivus!
    My thoughts as well.

(we caught the Festivus episode here just a bit earlier this evening 8-) )

Yeah, I love how we lie to kids about Santa Claus and Jesus being born on the 24th. Makes them stupid enough to believe that lowering taxes will lower the deficit.

I would like it if there was a doo wop quartet at the liquor store all year long.

It would make me drink either more or less.

Christmas sucks. It's been ruined by shameless commercialism and has no meaning anymore. Just proves that the only REAL God of the Republicans in money.

It's why I won't buy any gifts this year and instead spent it on a vacation to a resort in Key West where I'll hang out by a pool with a book. (ok, the pool will be filled with naked men, but that's not the point).

 You are funny, in the good way. ;)

I don't have kids, but if I did, i would not tell them that Santa is real. I'd tell them the truth, and that it is fun to make believe that Santa is real - that it is fun to pretend that he's real. For kids, using your imagination is fun and can create wonder. No need to lie for kids to experience the kiddy Christmas joy. I don't think so, anyway. I knew Santa wasn't real at 3, yet the childish Christmas joy remained. I'm glad my folks didn't try and convince me of something that was clearly not true just to get me excited.

Then there is the Jesus aspect... we weren't religious. I think it's cool that there is a rigious Christmas, and a non-religious Christmas. Everyone wins. ;)

I personally like a holiday that involves gift-giving because it's fun and I like it when people enjoy the gift I give them. But I don't like that people feel obligated to do it.

Santa photos are cliche' and lame. Even my daughter thinks so.

There is plenty of time for truth... let kids be kids and have some fun!
And as adults we should let ourselves have some fun ... for goodness sakes! :D

I'm all for fun, but at a time and place of my own choosing; not just on a day that certain segments of society deem as days that you must have fun regardless of your true feelings/beliefs. That being said, on Christmas I expect I will have fun watching movies at home, studying, and having the opportunity to sleep late and not be on a schedule, maybe get started on my taxes (and yes I find it 'fun' to have it out of the way and not have to worry about it later).

  • Just wrapped some gifts.
The Rib Roast has been in the oven for 2 hours.
My wife's family is on the way over to the house.
The fancy schmancy dinnerware is on the table.
The house smells of pine cones and Christmas Tree.
    Cookies have been baked.

That's right, It's about the children. It's normal to be over Xmas when your an adult. There's no way I'd take away the excitement from my little girl, it's priceless seeing them believe in it all.

  • Lets see, I had a wonderful Saturday spent with my wifes side of the family. We had a wonderful meal, and shared stories. Then Sunday, my brother-in-law and I watched Football, ordered a pizza, and shared stories. Today I will go to my parents and fix yet another Rib Roast. We will laugh, maybe play some cards, eat some cookies, and talk about "Christmas Past". Then tomorrow, yet another day spent with family, exchanging gifts, listening to Christmas music, eating cookies, playing silly games, and enjoying one anothers company.

When will this money driven, commercialized, Christmas tree shoved down my throat, society controlled, nasty Holiday ever come to an end?

    The Horror!
