Interestingly,I thought the band had a better performance in NY but the crowd was a tad more energetic in Philly. Just an opinion and observation from a guy who was on Mccready side (technical term) both nights.
This band has great energy and a good vibe. I am rooting for them... I think they can handle the fame.
I am sure I will get SOLAT some day...maybe when they tour with PJ in 2013!!
That sounds awesome. I really hope they play a proper Chicago show on this tour. They've been here a couple times since Handwritten came out but both were for festivals.
Also, I love that they have been leading off the sets with 'Mae'. Probably my favorite song on the new album....kinda reminds me of PJ starting shows with 'Release'.
Not quite Release... :nono: :nono: :nono:
That being said... it is a strong opener. I think that Brian will get a feel for putting a set together. At both shows, he had to calm the audience down. In Philly, he asked everyone to "stay on the floor" and not crowd surf because it was getting ridiculous. That was in between songs. In NY, he actually stopped playing for 2 minutes while security broke up a fight. I guess it's a good problem to have when you have a passionate fan base.
He could have split up a few tunes to naturally bring the crowd back down to the earth. There were 2 parts of the show that had back to back "slow songs". Also, the strength of the set, IMO, has been in the middle of the show. Would like to see encores that are special!! They have great tunes to close a show (Great Expectations is fine), but just need to group them together.
 Anyway, highlights included Here Comes My Man, Ferris Wheel, Film Noir, and American Slang.9.29.96, 8.28.98, 9.1.00, 7.5.03, 9.30.05, 6.1.06, 6.19.08, 6.20.08, 6.24.08, 10.27.09, 10.28.09, 10.30.09, 5.20.10, 9.3.11, 9.4.11, 9.2.12, 7.19.13...

I wonder what the odds of Mr. Neil Young showing up at one of the NYC show on Wednesday? He's in NYC on Tuesday and has off on Wed. Good possibility i think.

So pissed I couldn't make the Philly show. Out of all of the 20 or so different bands I've seen (not including small local ones), their concert in AC earlier this year was the only time where I literally fought to get away from the stage. I'm only 24 but good lord....I thought Cage the Elephant puts on a wild show but as soon as the first song came on I was like "Oh shit!" and high-tailed about 50 feet back. Standing back from a distance I have never ever seen a crowd as wild from the first to last song. When I saw them that time I only knew maybe 4 songs or so but I was extremely impressed.
Fallon just has "It" and if these guys stick around they can do whatever the hell they want honestly. They have range, can entertain the crowd, and of course the most important....switching the setlists up 8-)
I think these guys and MMJ are the can't miss concerts of the next generation bands when they come around. And it's funny because a year ago today I probably couldn't name 10 songs between both bands.'08- Camden 1-2 '09- Chicago 2; Spectrum 1-4

Did anyone catch last nights show on AXS.TV last night? Am I the only person who was disappointed?
The mix was painful. There was only one mic working. Brian sounded sick on tv. I texted my buddy at the show who was sitting in the ADA section (he can't stand right now) up front and he said the T5 sound was better than normal. SO it was not the live performance, just the broadcast. Or was it my TV?
I did not give it much of a chance. Flipped thru about 6 or 7 songs and figured I would get back to it this weekend. I needed a night sleep after 2 shows this week.
For this those going tonight, enjoy the show. It is a blast. Unfortunately, I think the sets do have a natural pattern to them. You pretty know what you are going to get with exception to some changes to the order and they seem to be replacing about 5 songs a night.
 The good news... SOLAT is still on the table, and I think it's ON tonight! 8-)9.29.96, 8.28.98, 9.1.00, 7.5.03, 9.30.05, 6.1.06, 6.19.08, 6.20.08, 6.24.08, 10.27.09, 10.28.09, 10.30.09, 5.20.10, 9.3.11, 9.4.11, 9.2.12, 7.19.13...

I agree. The sound guy for axs.tv needs to be canned. No bass whatsoever. Terrible mixing"All I Ever Knew" available now in print and digital formats at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iBooks.0

Okay, so I've got my first show tomorrow night. (w00t!) What time should I arrive? My 45 Club tickets are at will call and would like to be up front. Should I expect crowd surfers and shit like that? I'm 6'5", so GA shows always don't go well for me (due to some prick behind me), and I really just want to enjoy the show.0

Show at 9:30 was AWESOME tonight!! Really was just so much fun, definitely one of my top shows of the year! Band sounded amazing, crowd was enthusiastic, and I loved Brian's banter! Brian talked a bit about PJ tonight (though sadly no SOLAT cover). He was explaining how he was supposed to go antique shopping with some friends, but didn't end up doing so today. Someone shouted out 'Don't be a shitty friend', and Brian was like, 'I know man, right? That's actually what my favorite PJ song is about, Off He Goes, being a shitty friend". Then he mentioned how Ed would be crazy climb the rafters of clubs and sing simultaneously. Thought that was cool. Also have to give props to the guy doing the Carlton dance in the pit the whole time
All in all a wonderful night! So happy I was able to go!"Sometimes you find yourself having to put all your faith in no faith."
