I was in front of my laptop, reading a book, waiting for an email from a client, then decided to get my dose of Veddicine... only 2 days of not visiting the tread and whew! I guess I needed to run to catch up, boy this tread is growing ....with the last couple of pages I just couldn't help but comment....and then it got into me! ...
Guess what I was reading before I decided to indulge myself through the couple of unread posts ???? .... "Fifty Shades of Grey"! Just very timely for all these boner pics and video "Once" ....("once upon a time i could control myself"... just can't help but then

If it helps at all, I am a normal (ish) educated woman, and I believe 100% that consciousness doesn't end with death . . .

Given2Fly I read this wonderful post the other day, and have been meaning to reply (unti I got side-tracked by EV's manliness) . . . I know EXACTLY what you mean, that nostalgic feeling for a distant world/dimension. I pretty much feel nostalgic most of the time. I was nostalgic at 21 years old! I sometimes wonder whether it's my own youth I'm nostalgic for (especially the years between 8-12, and yes, especially summers at the beach) or whether it is a different time and place I'm longing for. Like a past life, or a future life, or even the afterlife (if you believe in any of that stuff).

The one time in life I'm guaranteed to never feel nostalgic is when I'm drunk, surrounded by friends. Then I'm like 'Life is so RICH and amazing and I wouldn't wanna be anywhere but here! Right now!', which is probably why I drink so much. And why I never wanna go home, or go to bed.

And of course at PJ concerts . . . I'm never anything but JOYFUL in the midst of a PJ concert!

But you know, I think nostalgia happens to loads of people. Like you watch 'Woodstock' and all of a sudden your wistful for THEIR time, and THEIR youth. Even that lovely movie Midnight in Paris is all about nostalgia for other eras. Or you watch some awesome trilogy (like LOTR or Star Wars) and you're nostalgic for the films once they'e over!!!!

The thing is -- I'm never nostalgic for being on my own, for my own company, it's always about being with other people . . . Maybe (and I might be getting a bit spiritual here) there comes a time in the life of a human consciousness where there IS a utopia. Where human souls are living together in friendship and intimacy and joy, whether it's in this world or another, and deep down we're all longing for that place. That connection and contentment.

Do you have kids? I said this to a friend of mine recently, that unless I'm with friends (and getting tipsy and happy the way I do when I drink), I'm often feeling nostalgic, or longing for something intangible. And she said that used to happen to her too. Until she had kids. So maybe some of the nostalgia we feel is for our own future family? . . . Or maybe you're just so busy with kids you don't give a shit!

I saw this movie recently where one of the characters says 'life just has a gap in it' . . . But I bet you only feel the gap if you're bored, or if you're safe and well-fed, because I doubt you'd worry about the gap if you were fighting for survival!

And of course we all have different ways of filling the gap. Pearl Jam obsession anyone?

Okay, this is getting a bit deep now. Sorry people.

I feel like I should go read 'The Power of Now', or some book that will make me appreciate existence, as it is, this very moment.

Bloody nostalgia and longing! It's frustrating! Of course, we know what can help with that. (Insert pic of EV's boner, or face. Or anything Mike related. I love Mike!) . . .
