Good points Cliffy If the team would just win the fans will fill the place or at least they SHOULD.

    Peace

uhhh ... the team is in the ALCS ... it IS winning ... you can't say the stadium would have been filled if they were winning because if they weren't - they wouldn't be a game ...

like a lot of pro sports ... it's all about dollars, corporate boxes and catering to the wealthy ... people that have no real interest in the game but rather are there just because it's "cool" ... real fans are being pushed away in a lot of places ...

Yeah you are correct, it does come down to money and who can affprd it....mostly wealthy people with cash they can blow on a game. I'm pretty sure it's no different at Fenway Park and many other ball parks. Here in South Florida I went to my first game over the summer to Marlins Park and we got nice seats along the first base line 29 rows up for $40 bucks in a closed airconditioned stadium. After the game a very nice fireworks show that was a good bang for a buck.

I think this article sums up my feelings on the new place vs. the old place:

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/yankees-wo ... -alcs.html

That being said, it's embarrassing at the severe lack of contact and the strikeouts they are piling up 67 in 72 innings now.

great article, thanks for posting. this sums it ALL up:

No matter how the Yankees spin this – team president Randy Levine had the hubris to blame StubHub – the swiss-cheese crowd is a stunning indictment on their failures to transition the atmosphere of the old stadium to the new one.

sickening. i was 16 and sitting in the very last row in the right field bleachers during game 6 of the 1998 ALCS game against the indians, and when the yankees got the final out to advance to the WS, me, my dad, my uncle were BANGING THE SHIT out of the aluminum like backing behind us and i remember an NYPD cop JOINING US in the the ruckus. by far the best experience i ever had at a live sporting event. the stadium was one big party with 50K in attendance.

times have changed. any chance they can knock down the new stadium and put the old one back up?

I jut can't believe he would have the balls to do it during a playof series AND he's playing like a very bad bench player right now.

Yeah. I like Cooperstown. Far enough away that I don't want to go every year. The drive up from CT is great
